Not sure what you mean, I do not know what a 510 to 510 would do, the 510 to 510 that I have is to long and sticks out past the top cap and the shorty 510to 510 is way too short. If you want it to sit flush then you need the 510to901 and the 901 to 510 to bring it flush with the top of the top cap or you connect the 901 rethreader and a 901to 510 adapter to use it without the top cap and still utilizing the adjustable airflow. Either option will look nice but it will be shorter if you use the latter, Imeo showed this in a couple of the iatty vids.
I'm using 510 to 901and 901 to 510 ,I have the top brass cap fitted as well and the top of the connector is flush with the top......lovely !!

Will the bridged 510->901-901->510 connector (from post #883 in the iAtty thread) be an ideal candidate?

Guys, I said already that you can use a retheater and a 901 to 510 adapter only. That way GG is going 12mm smaller and Iatty works even better. Forget the 510 to 901 and a 901 to 510 solution. Its old stuff.

I think I am missing something here if I use the re threader and a 901 / 510 adapter it is well below the top capare there different length 901/510 adapters out there? if thats the case can you give us the length of the one you use Imeo, and i will try to track one down.I would prefer to use what you recommend.

When using the Rethreader/901-510 option, you don't use the top cap. You need to watch the video as Imeo shows this quite well
