Was here 84 - 88, 91 - 96 and came back in 98 been here since. Bought a house. For me this is home. The way things are looking, I'll have to spend at least 2 year in the States before being able to get back.

Sorry to hear its a forced move mac. That's got to be pretty rough!!

Is anyone familiar with Indianapolis area?

There's a chance I may end up there for my upcoming move.
All I know is they must be another vape mail black hole. The TFV4 I'm anxiously waiting on arrived to their main facility Monday, and hasn't moved since!

Good, good, good, good vibrations for a move to CA.

I also am experiencing the black hole. I ordered some TC coils for my subtank mini from Arizona, shipper is usually very quick and he sent them out the next day. They where suppose to be delivered Tuesday the 29th. Somehow the went west instead of East and have been vacationing in California since monday.

Mornin /Evening Tree Fam!
I'm feeling in pretty good spirits this morn.....doc wants me to stay consistent with a cocktail of meds...So far, I must say..the most beneficial has been my improved sleep (;) to @bellastarr ) ...I'm still using the Sleep Monitoring cell phone app...and it confirms I'm getting enough rem and deep sleep with few interruptions...:thumb: ..now I just have to work on getting my behind to bed ..still alot of resistance there..

The more shootings I hear about...the more disturbing. This might sound paranoid to many, but to some maybe not...I try to remain somewhat aware of my surroundings at all times....Prob a throwback to my many years in Security ...I do sometimes give a thought to what I would do if the place was held up or some "guy" waltzed in with guns ...I am for the right to bear arms, but ..honestly..do they HAVE TO waltz into Walmart and shop with their rifle in hand just to prove it?? It has happened... *shaking head* and thank goodness it's not a common occurence :sneaky:

@mac63 ...Well..you've come to the right place! I'm sure there are TONS of ECF folks here from the Indy area.
I lived and worked in the Indy area for around 5 years...I still have friends there ..and as it's only about 3 hours from my Ma's house in Ohio. I was last there this past July for a few days on business...And I passed a Vape Shop on my way to the movie theater...didn't get a chance to stop in. If you have any particular questions feel free to PM me. I can tell you that many folks, including me when I lived there...commuted in to work in Indy proper from the surrounding residential suburbs (Greenwood/Whiteland/New Whiteland/Franklin is a College Town ..good schools) that have sprung up out of the corn fields and farm land. Where I lived didn't really have a "downtown"..it was mainly a residential area ..complete with strip malls and gas stations,etc...and everybody there worked in Indy, mostly. It was only about a half hour commute into the City. Indianapolis itself is fairly liberal politically...but just like here in Nevada...the bigger cities are more liberal but the majority of rural, smaller outlying areas are still very conservative.
Oki it is not...and I am sorry you are being forced to move...That is actually how I ended up in Oki for several months..and the same way I was then transferred to Mainland from Oki...Military routinely fills it's needs that way...And I am glad you got to stay for as long as you did. And I hope you get to return soon...Hopefully it will not be an "unaccompanied tour of duty" :( .

Time for Breakfast! And more coffee!:)
Tanana River Delta.jpg

I took this on one of my roadtrips to Fairbanks, Alaska..about a 2 hr drive...just a view of the river that runs along the Richardson Highway. I lived in a very small town...it had an grociery, laundry, liquor store, feed store, lumber yard and gas station...but if you wanted underwear, toys, a car or to go to McD's...you had to go to Fairbanks.

It's funny to think about it now, but where I was raised it was pretty normal for people to carry rifles/shotguns in a gun rack in their truck. My dad had a rifle at all times in his truck, just something people didn't think twice about then. I think people would pretty well freak out nowadays. Pretty much everyone I knew growing up owned/used guns, they were tools not weapons.

I remember one time when I was in high school, I went out to eat with a buddy and a friend of my dad's was coming out of the restaurant with his wife. We started talking and he reaches into his truck to show me his new shotgun, right there in front of the restaurant. A couple guys saw through the windows and came outside to check out the shotgun, a few people pulling in to the restaurant came over to check it out as well. Eventually there were about a dozen guys outside, a couple more guns pulled out and everyone just shooting the breeze. Eventually all the wives got impatient and broke it all up.

The reaction then versus now would be very different.

It really depends on the locality...Gun racks are a common sight in rural Alaska...as are holstered sidearms.
I'm sure I gave more than a few tourists in their RV's on the Alaska Highway a good scare or at least a good case of rubber neck  ..when they saw me walking with my friends' kids down to the river to swim. I ALWAYS carried a holstered honkin 6" Ruger Redhawk (in fact, the kid's parents INSISTED on it, when I had them in my charge)...you had to...self defense against bears.
Whenever I would go out to gather berries in Alaska...which , with so many different berries...was alll Summer long:rolleyes: ....I ALWAYS carried a side arm..Cuz bears like berries too. In the deep thickets, you couldn't actuually SEE a bear until it stood up on it's hind! But you can bet they SMELL you first! To me, bear smells kinda like skunk...During caribou and moose season, it was not unusual to have a bear "tailing" you or moving parallel to you ...just out of sight..as they are curious...and they like caribou too!

One of many wild animals that roamed in and out around camp...hunting was not allowed as it was private mine property

Sometimes. Having been "near the source" for some local media stories and very "well-informed" for several national stories, I know all too well how facts becomes distorted in the coverage of even straight-forward events. Exponentialize that in the echo chamber of today's internet world in which bloggers and reporters build on each other's stories without ever going to the source and you have a recipe for disaster. Further, as much as we may wish it to be, the truth is also often much more complex than the binary model of which we are often so fond--things are not black and white, liberal or conservative, left or right, or right or wrong. They are most often several shades of gray along multiple spectra. So, while one would hope that the truth lies in the middle or is easily understood, it sometimes--sadly--lies in another dimension altogether.

PIF to @Slowone2

It's going to be a noisy day here. After a brief reprieve, the tile grinder has been set up next door and is going again. Meanwhile, on the other side of the house, I'll have the Blue Angels again.

CASDIshoetree10.jpg

I like the Shoe Tree...there used to be a famous one near here...until some guy got mad at his Wife (???:blink:o_O???) ...I know, right??!!! ...and chainsawed it down.
Well...in the positive, if you have the house to yourself..you can just dig out your Heavy Metal ..or your (kid's) Drum Set (Guitar Hero??!) and Rock Out! If ya can't beat em.......
PM Work Site.jpg

Downtown at the Mancamp ..the Warehouse, Admin, Shop and Dorms are all located here...I had a room roadside..I coulda opened my room window... reached out and slapped the hubcaps on those 400 Ton Haul Trucks that ran by there night and day 24/7. Believe me I wanted to!:-x Earplugs and Ambien saved the day . For a mancamp..the Dorm facilities were pretty posh. In the Lower Camps they lived in tents (yes even at minus 40*F) and ramshackle trailers. Up here, we had a sauna, work out room, pool table..individual rooms with satelite cable and internet. 2 hot meals a day , a salad and ice cream bar..including Steak every Friday  . Course you had to LIVE there..without your families..working 12's everyday for up to a month...then home for a bit...then back. It was hard. But we were all in the same boat. The ones who couldn't hack it, fell out early on.

Okay all "YOU" Techie People I need some assistance here . . . I have been searching the internet for the past 3 days to try to find what I need, alas could not find anything, unless it was very questionable to use (app/program from unknown or dubious source) or too expensive for "Me" . . .
4c9ERr4zi.gif

Here is the situation/issue:

Finally moved Cell service and have a new phone - the LG 3 Stylo; with the sync program provided by LG - LG Bridge . . .

The Major Problem:

I cannot sync "My" Outlook Contacts and Calendar directly to the phone - nor it's internal memory, especially since the LG Bridge Program requires you to connect to the Internet and also link to either a Gmail/FB account or set one up with LG (which I really would rather not doing - but have and now deleted since the program failed to work as promised) . . .

Worse - Even after I followed all the instructions, the program keeps mentioning the phone will not connect to "My" PC, although I can see it as a new "Drive" and can access it to transfer files from the pc to the phone which I have done . . .

Also compound this with the fact that it seems that all Android Phones and Google are insisting that all data is going to be shared - even if "You" DO NOT WANT TO SHARE It between platforms . . . NO I DO NOT WANT to link "My" Phone to Google Contacts & Calendar . . . Nor even a Cloud . . . I want to keep that information separate, especially since I have certain contacts I keep in "My" phone that I only want in "My" Phone and no where else (I do not "Share" Friends personal information with anyone, especially without them knowing) . . .

SO - What I am looking for is a program (or a workaround) that I can use that will specifically transfer MS Outlook Contacts & Calendar Information from PC to Phone and Phone To PC when connected via a USB . . .

Anyone with any suggestions . . . OH Yea - Hopefully it will be free too . . .

THANKS ! ! ! :D
