Good morning @liblue1

I'm out and having clam chowder and coffee. It looks like the rain may be done for a bit. I may go for a little walk and check out a new vape shop.

Catch y'all later. Hope it's a good day!

Good morning all and welcome to Julie (I decided to change the name because I was never fond of Julius). :)
Several factors come into play here. The first is Imperialism. Over the past 500 years, as the European (and other) nations expanded their trade and settled colonies
That certainly was a very important factor in such debate, though I would suggest 5,000 years (or maybe 10,000) would be more appropriate to the colonization/subjugation theme. Why is it that we humans always march into some other country and claim immediately that those people are inferior? Look at the Aztecs when the Spaniards, who had crude firearms, "conquered" them. The Aztecs had beautiful pyramids and houses of stone, astronomical observatories, etc., while the Europeans, with the exception of a few castles and manor houses, had mostly daub and wattle huts. But the Spaniards claimed god was on their side, so they killed as many Aztecs as they could and stole all their valuables. Of course, these Aztecs were not perfect either, because they pretty much did the same thing to the Toltecs, Olmecs, etc. So what will we do if Star Crock were to become a reality and we went to other planets in other solar systems? Conquer them because they hadn't developed warp drive yet? Enslave them because they are inferior? And if an alien race came here and did that to us, how indignant would we be that they did not recognize us as an intelligent species? Or would we fall on our faces and claim they must be gods? (We're probably beyond that myth by now, but sometimes I wonder.) OK, enough philosophy for awhile. Gotta get some work done...

Welcome to ECF @Mr SK Check out this neat contest thread where you can win some really good e-liquid just by chatting with the great folks who hang out here (see complete "rules" on page 1). Lots of fun here! Nicest people on the forum and you just might learn a thing or twelve... :)

5 next outing - we hike this little canyon.jpg

Found a small cave in this tiny canyon with petroglyphs. Surprised BLM didn't fence it off... or maybe they didn't know it existed.

Especially considering I just recently got a whole bag of cotton pads from Japan.
That is my dilemma, too. My wife rolled her eyes when I bought the bag of organic cotton balls two years ago. She laughed when I bought cotton pads last year. I don't know what she'd do with the purchase of several lifetime's supply of rayon.

Feel free to pm me. I would be happy to send you each a few feet of rayon to try. I bought a THE big box quite a while ago and doubt my heirs want to decide what to do with it. Now must run to the grocery store and get some food and some natural vitamin d outdoors.

Julius 1 - 2: How about this, as we are driving home from work and I see the wreckage and big trucks and stuff I think "Proud to be Texan the best state." Then I think of JPF and how he and any other in Ohio will go "Proud to be from Ohio the best state." It is in our mentality to think big and that we are the best there has ever been. Right at some point in most peoples lives they think they are all that and a bag of chips. For the "God is on our side." we still see that to this day. God is on their side so disrupt this meeting, or burn down that building, shoot this person or that. Because there are many out there and many religions. The fight for supremacy will likely never end. Even if there was some type of apocalyptic event, those who survived would eventually have someone who stepped up and said we need to do it this way to survive. The cycle started over, if I can live in this house under these circumstances, who are you to tell me I am doing it wrong? Opinions abound, and each is strong in each person. Strong being a key word. I wonder what part of the (We're probably beyond that myth by now.) you are speaking of. No not God's, but I have seen and you say you have seen U.F.O.'s My two cents to the conversation at this point.

And I also think that the language barrier has a lot to do with it. You go to another country for vacation, they speak another language. You have a book to help and try your best to talk to them. Before that, books and translators, imagine the encounters between a group of adventurers verses those who live there. If someone comes up to you today, and speaks in Spanish, German or any other language than English, you will likely think. Why have you not learned our language, or why do you not have a book to help, why have you not learned some basic words before coming. You hear the animosity there? Though there really is none, you are, or most are set back at the idea of not speaking the same language. The ability to adapt is there though, even in all the languages you can think of technology has proven one thing, we can speak to each other. New words like computer, facebook, twitter; will be universal no matter the language. So we have learned to a degree to be more tolerant of each other, than before? Sometimes it seems not so, well recent events prove so. So in an attempt to get a greater group of people to communicate you speak one common language, it would be easier to Anglicize all those different places, names, islands, lands, countries..... into a common language. Whether hostile or not. another two cents. Better stop and go shower.

@philbh how old are your kids?? My girls, 12 and 16, fight constantly! It's never ending :/ but I have a stepdaughter, also 16, and two step sons, 10 and 11, who really don't fight that much, well the boys do every now and then, but they never fight with their sister or my girls... I am starting to wonder if it's just that I happened to have 2 girls and that's why they fight so much :/ I know me and my sister used to fight constantly but now she's my best friend.. Hopefully the same thing will happen with my girls
