have they thought of alternative ways to cook?
Over the years I have been stuck a few times due to earthquakes or flooding.
I kept some basic camping supplies and have a camp stove and lanterns along with several tanks of propane. Also have a fireplace with a wood supply if needed (before long fireplaces will be banned here I am sure). Along with various canned goods and bottled water I can get by for probably a week or more. Food might not be tasty or my preference but I would not starve.
When the zombie apocalypse hits I doubt I will last for long.

Popping in for a rest and vape break.

For those who understand (NOT casting any aspersions here) the logistics of catastrophe vs. grocery store availability, we should all maintain a minimum of three month's food supply at all times. Even if grocery stores can avoid being robbed during a natural disaster, their entire inventory will be depleted in three days and if trucks cannot get to them to replenish their stock, you are all SOL. Assume you will have no electricity (got a generator?) or natural gas for your stove/heaters (got a wood stove? got wood? got propane heaters and camp stove? got several months supply of propane canisters?) It does not take WW3 to create the need; earthquake, flooding, hurricanes... we have all witnessed something and were just lucky it didn't last too long. Several years ago, blizzards took down the cross-country power lines and even with out-of-state linemen helping, some ranchers were without power for 3 1/2 months. Luckily, they all had generators. But what if the local gas stations could not supply them with gasoline for those generators? ARE YOU PREPARED? Please think about it.

Yup and thanks for the reinforcement, three months minimum for each person. And will hold my tongue, sort of yes westhc they are trying to outlaw fireplaces nation wide {their on your side} Okay bad joke. Had a good nap and read a bit, zombie apocalypse? They even have manuals for that, the military, and three possibilities they see how it could happen. But just look at Milwaukee, right liar news, um go find out else where what is happening and being said.

Right once had a major freak blizzard, some places stayed under snow drifts 18 feet tall for a full month, not driving any car there, the highway was washed away Mandi, how long to fix just that one thing? a lot to think about and so little at the same time. Hey remember the patriot nurse video lady, she is a nurse. Did you know many of the medicines made for humans are given to fish, cats, dogs and horses. Just look up the colors, the numbers and shapes. All done by strict control to identify, the very same stuff and you would not need to waste your money seeing a doctor, and then having them prescribed, very expensive stuff. Antibiotics at petsmart, think outside the box. And another thought, lets say you are out of water, and people are fleeing for some reason, every house has a water heater, or most. 50 gallons of fresh water in every tank in every house......... Okay better stop.

One reason I do not like the walking dead, they walk. One reason why I liked the movie World War Z, they run, realistic.

I didn't realize I hadn't checked in earlier other than that delayed post this morning...

When the zombie apocalypse hits I doubt I will last for long.
While we are fairly prepared for a natural disaster, if a zombie apocalypse occurs... well, let's just say I hope you're a good shot because I'm likely coming for your brain..!

Well wishes to your mom and daughter, @diabolique.

Down to two hours to go a W. Ready for it to be over. Get to come back tomorrow morning too! Yay! Hahaha! At least I'm about done cleaning up and can kinda relax a bit. Then home for dinner and a walk if it doesn't rain. All cloudy but the temp has dropped a bit and not as humid.

Hope everyone is having a decent evening and I'll catch ya later.

Perhaps enough sustenance to last 3 seconds.

When will season whatever of Walking Dead be on Netflix? September/October?
Finished Stranger Things. Not bad.
Need to finish up season 5 of GOT before the loan expires. Then it will be a long wait for season 6.
I am finding it hard to get back into the Vikings for whatever reason.

A safe and peaceful evening to all.

8/17 - 3: Okay just getting to be too much again. Sorry diabolique..... Morning Blue. At least you got out of the house for a little bit Mandi. Heard my neighbor pull up to get supplies, they do construction. Have a ride at the end of the day to go replace my phone. With that I can start to call many people I need to and that will ease a lot of my stress. So just have to stay calm to the end of the day. Never know how much you need a phone or to contact people if just like Mandi stuck on their island, and here with no car, I am on mine. One phone call I am sure that should have been taken today, would have been with the mechanic to say "Yes" whatever it costs do it. Then I should have my vehicle by next Monday or Tuesday was his guesstimate.......
Ah see already forgetting stuff.... Good to see you back finally @ThaFuzz
:tumble:

@ThaFuzz definitely good to see you back.
I do have to say I was much more prepared for Katrina and then Gustav. I had camping stoves, food, water etc etc.. I lost pretty much everything I had when I moved to Alabama in the middle of the night, hiding away from my ex. He went to jail a few months later and we came back home but we had already lost everything and had to start over. When David and I got together neither of us had anything. We literally both had to start completely over. Now we pretty much have everything we need to get by on a day to day basis but emergency supplies wasn't taken care of yet. But after this situation I can definitely say as soon as things get back to normal and we are both working again we will definitely put more effort into emergency supplies. After the fact I feel silly for not doing it sooner, especially after living through Katrina and then Gustav you would think I would have been more prepared.

Been busy...school has definitely started!

Don't think I'll go back through 10 pages, so sorry if I'm out of the loop on things.

Glad to see you back, ThaFuzz. Hope things start improving for ya.

Mac63, does that mean the bike is finally repaired?

Mandikay, glad to hear things are improving down there.

Tigger, sounds like you're dealing with some weighty problems. Prayers for strength and endurance for ya.

Hope GMO is doing better ... is he home yet? Maybe I should go back and catch up...

Anyway, hope everybody has a restful evening.
