I'm currently toying with the idea of making my own flavours/cutting the high stregth e-juice. I found this website where 500ml of Glycerine costs £4.99 (plus postage). Would this stuff be alright to use? I see it has the UPS and BP standards displayed.

Sorry, I'm not able to post links.

www dot mistral dot ie and search for glycerol

I'm a little uncertain and don't want to make a mistake. Also, which gives the better vapour, VG or PG?

I got VG today at a health food store. It was a bit more expensive than you guys have said (I am sure that is cause it was an "organic" health food store tho!).

It is called "Heritage Vegetable Glycerin" and says "Contains USP Grade Pure Glycerin" but does not have any other ingredients so I am pretty sure that is all that is in it.

Heritage Products Vegetable Glycerin 4 fl oz HouseOfNutrition.com $4.36

Was 4.99 for only 4 ozs.

Hope this stuff is ok cause I vaped a drop of it straight to see what it was like.. MEGA vapor!

Now I can't wait to get my Lorann oils in the mail. I ordered about 30 of them lol!

USP/BP means pharmaceutical grade, that should be fine to use Huxley. Boots the chemist also sells suitable glycerine. I got my propylene glycol from Mistral chemicals and it seems ok - 1 L PG, MPG , Propylene Glycol , 1,2-Propanediol - 99+% on eBay, also Chemicals, Lab Supplies, Medical Lab Equipment, Business, Office Industrial (end time 30-Mar-09 17:33:34 BST)

Glycerine gives a slightly thicker sweeter vapour than pg.

Hi Spikey *waves*

Hi Kate :) Missing you lately! :pervy:I am so excited about my flavors coming and I don't care if my teeth turn purple.. I wana try the grape lol! I just keep thinking about the crap I WAS putting in my lungs after 20 years of smoking menthols cigs and I don't care about artificial colors and such (well... except I am allergic to red #40 so if I have a reaction to the ones that have that I may have to donate them to someone else).

I hate being allergic to PG... but when I taste it now.. I really don't like it (I am sure that is psychosomatic cause I know it is going to make me sick tho!).

Pay attention to the label. If it says for external use only. DO NOT USE IT! There are too many stories on here about people who pick up some glycerin at their local store or pharmacy who appear to be ignoring this warning, and not enough people on here cautioning them about it. Then they write back and say how they're puking their guts out. Don't be one of them. It's not clear why this is happening, and the only information I've found about this states what I said above. IF IT SAYS FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY, DO NOT DISREGARD THIS WARNING.

I picked up some Humco brand glycerin from walmart for like 3.16 for a 6oz bottle. Its 99.5% USP grade, no warnings about external use. Ive read of this exact one being used several times on the forum and Im not sick so Im not too worried. Now in all theory to make some menthol or whatever no nic mix I just gotta use this, water and flavoring right?

Mine says USP, and doesn't say for external use only, but is sold as a skin softener. I might have to shop around some more and get definite VG.

Just noticed I can now post links. So here is the site for the food grade VG. Vegetable Glycerine - Starwest Botanicals

In the description it is very clear that it is food safe. Also it says that it can be used as a solvent to extract botanical properties from plant materials (without the use of alcohol). Now that has me thinking! Possibly, maybe, fresh mint leaves?, dried tobacco?, etc...etc... Now this would be worth some investigation. Also maybe some kind of filtering maybe?

Very interesting.

This is what I've been using with no problems.

Ooo you got my attention. I'm not sure how I missed that before when reading about VG. I've been trying diff tobacco flavored e-liquids, looking for a personal fave. So far only Hilton has made the grade. But, I've got some additive free regular tobacco, as well as vanilla and strawberry tobacco I could soak. Hmm, dare I try a DIY tobacco juice?
