Hi Z, Chad has already explained with a picture ~ the Heron's bottom is not our regular atty's type. It has wider threads on its periphery akin to the top-caps of 22mm mods* (M20/1 threaded ones), which enables it to flush mount (hybridized) on similar threaded mods, viz. Paps, Vela, Atom, Vanilla etc.

Tho in it's current avatar it'd not suit non M20/1 threaded mods ~ however, a proposed 510 Adapter (planned as indicated by Perseas), optional purchase, shall enable it to fit on anything in a short while.

*Also could fit on the Paps-X (23mm mod) thru a X Adapter

I would be heartbroken if I didn't add a mod to your list of 20x1 mods as it is much nicer than a few listed...BCV Surfrider and XXIX are both 20x1 threaded tubes and are spectacular. I know there are others out there but for something as nice as a HERON to sit atop the mod, these definitely deserves to be listed. :vapor:

I almost bought a XXIX tube recently, but something held me back. I was reading that because of their design there is not a lot of threads in the tube and that it's difficult to get other switches / toppers on them and not have gaps. Can you shed some light on this ? The Heron needs about 5mm worth of threads , then another 6mm or so past that for the Gpin to fit with a battery.

While their design is innovative to them i have heard of other switches and top caps working. I'm not sure of the sizing but I will measure for you soon. I can say that their craftsmanship and cs is probably second to that of king p. James is a great guy and constantly working to better his products for the users not the $. I will follow up with dimensions for you chad.

Apple products are also made in China...and their labor they used there are about on-par with the story told above. They just cover it up a bit better than most.

Here's a read for you, but there are tons of others that you can search for if you wish:

I have read that article a while ago and a ton of similar ones, it is true, but I am not talking about it. Moreover, there is another side of the story related with politics of why the outsourcing is obligatory for Europe and USA and the reasons are not only economical. Certain industries are domestic, certain technologies have geographic restrictions, immigration problems and wars. Apple is a corporate entity that wants to cut loses and increase profits, but I find her stance in many matters far more patriotic than other companies or people in the States.

They are making a point to try as hard as they can to build products in the USA. That is all you can really ask for such a giant company.

I think their entire iMac line is now assembled in the USA.... that is a start!

begin rant

... and no additional o-rings for one of the tips..... I mean, I would complain to their customer service, but what's the use: all the GP tips are now sold out there, and I doubt that they will send me the 2 tiny o-rings.....

end rant

Rodsky, you're in Germany? Following Idaho's lead, I'm sitting on a small stack of GP Drip Tip o-rings, courtesy of GP :)

PM me with address, I'll send a couple your way, no worries.

Best

Ozy.

But I really appreciate the offer to help :) :toast:

Unfortunately, it's the way of the world, everything is being outsourced - some outsourcing has always existed due to the actual location of natural resources, but quite a bit of it was started by greed - share holders and boards of directors wanted lower operating margins and higher profits. Unfortunately, greed spreads like the plague, and any large company simply can't stand up to it - Apple tried to keep their products American made as long as they could, but how could they compete with the much lower labor costs that every other large electronics company out there utilizes. Does anyone really think that the following argument would stand up in a meeting of the board of directors: You will make much less money, but our products will be made in America....

Those "wonderful" articles were aimed at Apple because their products are very popular and the company has made a lot of money - it made for a great story - Apple gets rich off the misery of people in China. I don't remember any such stories being written about Dell, HP, Sony, Lenovo, etc. - where do you think they make their products or buy most of the components? And I'm not even going to get into the IT outsourcing, how much misery this has caused people in the US, what it has done to the job market, and to the future of IT in the US as well as making the country vulnerable in terms of not having enough IT specialists.

Like Perseas said, it's best not to discuss it :D

The main reason that our products haven't yet a presentation box is that we don't want to order them from China, we want to support the EU and US domestic markets and we are still brainstorming for affordable and proper solutions.

A presentation box would definitely be nice, but I can imagine the difficulties - the most presentable material for your products would be wood - but that would be too expensive and the price of the shipping would rise. If you make the Ti X, a nice wooden box would really do it justice - at that price point an additional 15-20 EUR for the box would not make a difference :)

Your products are so amazingly good that they don't need a presentation box! You don't need to Innokinize it ;)
