I use Cape Cod cloths to restore my LUX's to new if I want to take the patina off (I usually don't). IdaBro turned me on to them... bought the full kit on Amazon.

I use button top batts in all my PAPS, including with the 18650 tubes. You might try changing to the other length GPin pin.

EDIT: IdaBro chimed in while I was getting another cup of coffee... he's the man.

Hope your well. There are many opinions on the subject of polishing and we have discussed many times. Personally, I prefer Autosol metal polish as many with high end devices. Many here also use Cape Cod cloth and/or Sharkshide. Of the two I would say Sharkshide is superior but, Cape Cod is a solid choice.
Even Mothers is a great wax/cleaner. It would be personal choice of the ones mentioned but they are all good but, again I am a fan of Autosol and/or Sharkshide.
Just make sure if you deviate from these to stay away from products with grit or abrasive properties such as Brasso.

It sounds like you may have purchased the tubes used? The V3 is delivered from Vapour Art and Domo with a long and short pin for the GPin that is easily interchangeable for various batteries. Sonds like you only have the short pin installed. If this is true I would be happy to send you a longer pin for your 650 connection.

The 2.1 being an adjustable telepost there are a couple of battery posts. One has a thinner head and the other will be thicker to allow "more reach from post to battery nipple.

Note, this may be the first time n my GP history that I used the word nipple legitimately. There are days that I just can't be too proud of myself. :)

Thanks for the reply and cleaning recommendations. Admittedly, I figured cleaning was discussed in this thread but its 400+ pages and was a bit lazy.

My lux v3 is new directly from VapourArt. The two 18650 tubes are also brand new purchased from Domo. I do not currently ahve any extra swtiches or top caps at the moment so I use the original ones from my lux v3. I will have to take a look at the GPin and extra parts that come with my v3 to see about changing them out.

Also, Thanks for the offer for the GPin! Really appreciate it. Let me check my stash but I think I already have both long and short.

I guess I don't understand why the 18650 tubes with the v3 top cap work with flat top batteries but not button top. Even if it is a GPin issue, it would stand to reason it is still making contact with the button tops???

Can you please elaborate on what's not working? If you're experiencing battery rattle then you need the longer pin - I don't think this is your problem since it works with flat top batteries. If the top cap doesn't screw all the way on then you need the short pin, although I would still expect the mod to fire (since it's making contact with the battery). If you have no battery rattle and the top cap screws on flush or at least screws on and makes contact with the battery but the mod just doesn't fire then I think something else is going on. I only use AW IMR button top batteries and I've used them successfully with 18350, 18500, and 18650 tubes with the GP Paps v2.1, v2.5, and v3.

No battery rattle and it is as you described in the part I quoted. It is not a huge deal but it is odd to me.

The button top is an EFEST. Was thinking of trying an AW but it works with my VTC4s and lonely VTC5. Was going to place a battery order either today or tomorrow and the 18650s on my list were the Sony VTC4s (can't seem to find a reputable place with VTC5s in stock). As I know they work well and also work in my other 18650 mods, I don't mind stocking up on a few more of them.

I buy clear plastic tubes with caps that I use to store my mods and I also use them to store my KFLs when I fly. I get a little leaking just by putting the caps on (which presumably creates more pressure in the tube) but not much more than that. I wonder if you could eliminate the pressure problem just by placing a KFL in a closed ziplock bag making it a closed system.

Herons and Spheroids for air travel ...!

I don't think the Ziploc bag will work. Even if it's a closed system it's not rigid enough to be resistant to pressure changes. Leaks will continue to happen based on experience...

FS is correct and followed well with great info. GP recommends AW IMR batteries, number one because they are proven to be the top contender in our vaping world as far as quality in build and performance. In my personal opinion I would not use efest batteries in anything I own from mods to tac gear. They are crap to me :).
Forget about the VTC's. Sony has made it clear that they will no longer produce them. They were never intended to be used in our arena nor do they want to assume any liability.

I find I only use the long pin with my V3 350's and Heron/PAPS hybrid in 500. Otherwise, I am using the short pins in the rest.

This is true. I was on a 2 hr flight last May and ziplocks didnt work on KFs, they still leaked. I actually drained them before flight, so it was just juice leftovers and still leaked.

When I flew out to CA I just put my holster in the little bucket when I went through security and picked it up on the other side. Had the 2.5 in 350 mode with a Spheroid and no questions asked. Loaded it up with some 24mg and stealth vaped both flights.
Had no problems in the airport either. I wasn't shy about hitting it but I made sure to not blow any vapor out.

Now about the X Ti... Damn I love this thing! Said I wouldn't take it out of the house but it's quickly become my main mod.
I'm extra careful with it but it pretty much goes every where with me. I swear it's breaking in almost like a nice piece of leather or something. There's some marks on it, maybe a scratch or two but it really is getting better with use. It's not going to be a safe queen for sure.
Haven't had any problems at all with the threading. I still work the threads under running water every time I clean it and it's never seen a drop of Vaseline :D

I'm completely opposite and love my purple efest (flat tops) and VTC5s. But I still love you Idabro! [emoji14]

Welcome buddy!

It isn't a GPin issue, simply there is no way to manage all brands of batteries in 18350/500/650/800 mode with or without a kick having just one pin for the GPin. The reason is that all batteries have different modes and lengths, the kicks too and the GPin must have a certain tension for a good conductivity. The solution is to choose which pin is best for you in conjunction with the brand and the mode of batteries you prefer to use. We develop our mods having tested many brands of batteries in different modes and almost all of them aren't really 35 mm, 50mm, 65 mm, they are off 2-3 mm. Even 1 mm less is critical in a mod, albeit we have covered almost all variations by using one short and one long pin. Believe me, it was quite tricky to find the average length for the 2 pins covering any combination of batteries, modes and kicks applied similarly in a sectional mod like X and one tube mod like v3 and keep compatibility with v1, v2, v2, v2.5 and X converter ring ...

Back at you!
VTC's are fantastic just not available anymore...I may have been a bit dramatic about the efest brand :), just not a fan after using 350's(free) when I was going through my pipe stage. They drained far too fast than should've and I never looked back. They are just rewrapped Panasonic's I believe whom I have read good things about.

I found this on reddit saying that Sony is not going to stop production. Not sure how reputable this info is but it seems legit.

yeah, like it was mentioned, if you want to bring that beautiful luster back to your Aluminium bronze tube, Cape Cod works wonders. I tried the Autosol, and it works great and similar to Cape Cod, but I use it for those faint hairline scratches. Plus, the Autosol I have comes in a tube and is paste. The Cape Cod comes in a cloth that I can cut into smaller pieces to use. Much simpler to use imo, and it does a fantastic job! Of Course, you need a PnB tool, but whatever. Cape Cod also works very well on the X Ti.

Batteries? Well, AW IMR are recommended with GP gear so, USUALLY and in most instances, that's what I use. Especially, with a single coil build in a Heron. With the X, I only use AW IMR's because I only use a small single coil that doesn't require anything higher, and it delivers the performance that is needed. However, with an atty like the Origen with dual coils (or quad coils) and a 650 tube, I do use VTC4/VTC5's. I only use those 35A efest or LGHE2's in my DNA30 devices. I was using those efest 500's with the V3 in 500 mode, but after quite a bit of use (and a longer GPin), I think they deliver the same performance as AW IMR 18490's. Stat wise they're almost identical. So, that's what I use with the V3 in 500 mode.

Now, the X Ti - love it! At first, I was a little hesitant to take it out of the house, but I used it in the house so much, when I left, I wanted to use it while out and about! Also, I was out of town last weekend on business, where I had to wear suits and dress wear all weekend. The X Ti/Heron was my main vaping device and because of its weight it was perfect and comfortable to have it either in a sport coat or dress slacks. I brought my X Lux/Heron (with a different mg) and it was so heavy with lightweight evening wear, it actually slipped out of my pant pocket when I was sitting in a lounge type chair. Immediately, I spotted it and jumped up to grab it. Not saying the X Lux is heavy per se, just in comparison to the X Ti. What's funny to me is when I looked at all the vaping gear I brought with me while alone in my hotel room, I could not believe I had easily over a $1000 USD in gear with me. And I didn't have every thing! Scary...but fun... :p

Thanks all for the replies on flying with vape gear. I hadn't flown anywhere since I started vaping full on and I knew that a few of you are road warriors.

Since my flight was a one-day trip I had just a slip case made for a small laptop with some extra pockets(man purse?) to carry some essentials and vape gear. I was given a "Pre-check" ticket where everything is in my bag and I didn't have to take off my belt or shoes. No issues or questions at all. I did take my MicroStick and my Spheroid which I put in a separate plastic baggie. I did get a bit of leakage from the Spheroid but I attribute that to possibly over filling it(?).

It was kinda funny but I walked what seemed like a 1/2 mile to the smoking area at the Seattle air port to vape before my return flight. The good people there were all sucking on cigs so I cause quite a stir when I pulled out my MS. They all kinda looked at me like I had just gotten out of a space ship. Maybe it was because I was in a suit. I was flown up for an interview. The plus side was while I was waiting for my ride home at the Portland airport I went to the smoking area for a vape. A woman trotted right over and asked me 20 questions about vaping. I was able to convince her to give it a try when she got back home. I'm not sure whether I will get the job or not but hopefully I was able to convince a smoker to quit cigs which makes a for a positive day in my book.

When I used to fly out west as a smoker and couldn't get a nonstop I always made sure I went through Denver because they have a really nice smoking lounge. Lol, Atlanta's was always a nasty nasty place.
I used to hate having to go back out through security just for a smoke. I'm so glad that's all in the past.
I think as long as you don't exhale any vapor then you can pretty much hit it anywhere.

The other 2 X's really do feel a lot heavier and Heron on the Ti feels much nicer.
I usually carry the Ti and one of the other X's and a 2.5 during the work week. Two Spheroids and a Heron usually so yeah $1000 worth of gear at any given time is easy to hit >.<

What I don't find is me constantly looking around and chasing the next "great piece of gear".
I don't really drip and all I want is a steady setup with little to no fuss to maintain.
I'm honestly so happy with my GP gear that I have no interest in looking for more stuff. I think I'm finally burnt out on buying crap and have settled into my happy place. I can actually start spending money on other .... :)
