Great picture! Thank you!![]()
Oops. Sounds like you and P are working on it. No need for many cooks
I don't want to add confusion.
I received another SS Paps V2.5 in the mail today, which required rescue. It was in even worse cosmetic condition than I had been led to believe and looked as if it had been sanded vertically using 80 grade paper - even over top cap and switch!
Thankfully it is 95% returned to original condition after some work (the little PnB adapter is a Godsend). I gently wet sanded with 600 grade to remove the scratches, yet preserve the engravings, then dry sanded to bring a light brushed finish. After wet sanding, the switch and top cap were polished with Autosol to a brilliant finish.
I do however have one question, if anyone can help.... What method will restore the tube as closely as possible to the original factory brushed finish?
You can send it back to us with registered mail and we shall refinish it. You'll pay just the return shipping of your choice, 7€ for registered mail or 15€ for DHL courier.
I too recently rescued a GP Paps 2.5 SS 18350 tube from the Classifieds. There are fairly deep scratches on the tube above the logo. I have a PnB adapter and I know that I can polish it and brush it, but Im afraid that the laser engravings will be polished off (the GP logo is already pretty bad) if I do the whole tube or that it wont match if I just focus on the scratches (either the finish will be off or the tube may be thinner in the middle). Can I take you up on this offer as well?

I appreciate your kind offer, but do not mind that it bears some reminders of its unloved past. I just thought that maybe I could make the finish closer to what it originally was. I will look at it for a while and may still take you up on this offer
The engravings were only lightened very slightly on the tube. I started at first with finer paper, but it was getting closer to a polished finish, than brushed.

Of course you can, we shall do new laser engravings in both cases as well.
