Sure miss these days... but have probably saved a few hundred thousand dollars in repairs and replacement 4X4's.

We have an off-road park here, called The Redneck Yacht Club. People are always trying to get me to take my Hummers there. I have done my share of off-road play. I love it, but I hate paying the tab after the fact. There is always a tab. :)

I didn't reply to your post (maybe others did not either) because it was not clear to me what you were asking. Tutorials for doing patina on mods, tutorials for removing patina from mods, tutorials for protecting patina on mods or from getting a patina on them, etc.

Personally I let mine patina naturally because I am not a fan of fingerprint magnets at all, and the LUX tubes are just that without a patina on them. I don't like wraps, so no way would I put a wrap (clear or otherwise) on any of my PAPS. I just use them with patina that is not protected. I do however remove the patina now and then with Cape Cod cloths and let them patina again naturally.

One of my extra LUX tubes is slated to get chemically forced patina one of these days though, at it will have to be protected with an automotive clear coat after. Depending on the grade of alu-bronze they are, they can be up to 80% copper that should patina well chemically. What I'll be shooting for...

Here are of couple of forced patinas I have done recently. Took about 3 hours:

Much of the west is an "off road park" in the sense that there are endless thousands of miles miles of 2-track on public lands that can be driven without doing any damage to the environment. There are also specific places for off road as well in places where anything else would impact the environment. Long way of saying that the west was made for off road enthusiasts. In 4 states I've been down every 2 track in them at least once, from most to many of them in 3 other states. The Moab, UT area is arguably the best of the best in the west with a huge selection of both marked and unmarked trails from the easy 2X4 to great starter 4X4, intermediate 4X4 to advanced 4X4, to some insane hardrock crawling that you just aren't gonna do without a radical built 4X4. The huge elevation differences and vista's, endless public land in a state where you can camp, fish, hunt, spelunk/treasure hunt, etc just about anywhere are a bonus in UT.

The 0ff road club I ran with did two 3-4 day weekends a month, plus two 2 or 3 week trips together every year, and everything encountered in ever state we went to was considered a must try for everybody who had the skill and a vehicle that could handle it. Over the years a few brand new 4X4's didn't survive their first outing, several every year were so severely crippled they had to be towed or trucked home. This group was not "brand" specific and any brand/model that was capable might turn up. So the years I ran with them I had everything from an old Willy's Wagon, to Jeeps, Chevy Blazers and S10's, a Chevy powered Land Cruiser, Ford Bronco's & P/U's. Almost all of them were modified.

I miss ATVing at our place in Maine. We had acreage in northern Maine(next to the Allagash/ Canadian border). Endless miles of trails. Officially, they were snow mobile trails. In the summer, we used them for our ATVs. Critters galore. Bear, moose. etc.... What fun!

The only summer I got to explore Maine was in my early teens via canoe. Beautiful country.
My last ATV's I bought new in 1986... a Honda TRX350 FourTrax 4x4 and a TRX250R FourTrax.

Maine.. Beautiful. Particularly, the northern mountains and woodlands. Our heaven.. Sigh.. I miss my mountain man..

I still have my Polaris. She is old and weathered like me, but I share many precious memories with her. :)

Hello Cucco!

I am lurking these days, due to so much work. We returned from Sofia 15 hours ago, by car as usually. On Monday we'll start working on an updated prototype of Piccolo v4. It will be produced in Athens as a whole, unlike the PAPS v3 which only the switch and the GPin is produced here, the rest parts are manufactured in Sophia. Coordinating production of different mods and parts in 2 countries is a very tricky story, but it can be done. The hand polishing and the electropolishing process have to be applied in Sophia.

Today in Athens we have a sunny Sunday.
We left from Bulgaria at a temperature of 41 ºF to find Athens at 78 ºF, weather is a funny thing!
