Most times, they solder the graphics cards onto the MB purpose so it can't be serviced, and you have to replace the whole unit. Apple is the worst about stuff like this, but most laptop vendors do the same thing.

Oh, and I'm in IT also. Mostly work on OS/390 mainframes. TSO, VSAM, CICS, COBOL, JCL, JobTrac, QMF, SPUFI, we got it all.

Yeah, kicking it old school.
Todal, you are kicking it Old School, indeed. I am also the TWS admin on the client server side and backup on the mainframe side. What scheduler do you use? TWS, CA7, Autosys...

The cool thing about the IT crowd here is; ya'll are cool, capable of having a good conversation and have great personalities! I remember when I was going for my ccna...man, it was like everybody was void of a personality! It was like they had this "DOS" (if that makes sense) type of personality. No humor, no conversation, but programming, hardware, etc - they ripped! just interesting to see such a vibrant IT crowd... :)

Well at least you guys are cool IT guys!! The IT people in my company are all jerks to deal with.....Every time we have a problem with our ERP system (Epicor 9), they point the finger at us.....Everything is always OUR fault. The one guy who does desktop support always has an attitude and is just an all-around miserable person.......My phone died a few weeks ago (we get company phones), and he was like "well what did you do to it?!?".....it took him almost a week to replace it....I just don't like our IT dept very much (no one does at our company)....

I really try to leave work behind once I'm out the door, so I don't mention it here much. Besides, vaping is much more interesting.

We are going through a huge Informatica migration from AIX to Linux. I have tons of shells scripts to update and installs to do. They have restricted me from traveling more than 50 miles from our office. LOL

That doesn't sound like much fun. I've been through the AIX to Linux bit before and never realized there were so many differences in libraries, etc.
I used to do a lot of work with Informatica, but never had to administer it.

I've done some IT a long time ago, but my passion and occupation is software development. I've worked on single user applications, client- server applications, and connection managers, but my focus has been on cloud applications for a while now. I manage software teams and projects so I don't get to code that much professionally, mostly personal side projects when I have time. I most recently wrote a little application that runs on a Linux box at home that periodically checks websites to see if vaping gear that I want comes in stock and sends me a text message.

I haven't written any code since my stroke. I should think of an application I want to write. Hmm.. :)
