Uhh, I'll just have no comment on this. Even though I just did.

Looking at that brings up many "images" of many body parts , both male and female........... "anavidfan, shudders and gets the hibbee gibbies"

Interesting. I turned the spring upside down and the squeaking stopped completely -for a few minutes, now it's back. Back to research!

This is usually caused by the sharp end piece of the spring scraping against the walls. Bend it so slightly away or toward the switch post walls.

Hello everyone :). Hope all is well. I see we moved straight into our late evening shenanigans.
@Todai - Let me be the first

The squeak is coming from the inside nut threaded into base. It is likely a sharp edge of the male threading in a female thread. The nut is the only moving part in the base of the switch when locking and unlocking. The brass spring may or may not turn but is far too soft to cause the sound. The noise will subside in a bit of time as the ss marries to the other in terms of wear.

Hope your well Todai!

Turn the lock nut around.

I notice that my nut ( stop , giggling) has a shiney side and a sort of brushed/ machined finish side. Which side should be facing us when we screw it in..........

Okay, you call all giggle and make jokes now :)

So we cant use WD40 on squeaky nuts:D,

Hey guys! Just wanted to take a quick minute to say hi as I rush to board another plane. I was supposed to be heading back home to Boston today from Raleigh/Durham, but the boss called me at the last minute and told me he needs me in Biloxi, Mississippi to fix a machine!! So I just took a short flight to Charlotte (what a Cluster this airport is!! Unbelievably crowded!!), then onto Gulfport/Biloxi MS......I will then work in Mississippi tomorrow all day and fly back home to Boston on Saturday morning.....ahh the life of a field service engineer!! :)

@Pris - It truly does not matter. I used to be shiny side up, now it goes back in without paying any attention :).

@Today just lock and unlock while you sit there and play with your nuts and the squeak will subside as the parts break in. Soon the switch will be a finger flick away from locking and unlocking.

So, your advice is to keep working the nuts, and marriage will soon follow? I can dig that.

And I blame yankee for any shenanigans around here.

Marriage is a better answer than herpes

This morning my dog ate a few of the tomatoes off the vine in our garden.....I blamed Yankee.

I think Nyogel 759G or 760G is better than Noalox for "dry" threads. More info regarding lubricants used in flashlights threading can be found here. Some are titanium oriented while others are not very common. What you have to remember is that the threading has to be kept always clean, regardless if it is slightly lubed with vaseline or any exotic lubricant or nothing at all as I prefer to keep my TiX just cleansed with soap and water and not lubed. And I use it 24/7 since Jan-February 2014.

Thank you Perseas! Finally a modder that has found Nyogel. I've been recommending that since I started vaping only to be ridiculed with Noalox comments :p

The vaping industry can learn a bit from the other "tube that holds batteries" industry. Flashlight makers know their metal tubes pretty damn well and they should since they've been doing it for decades.
