Ah! I see. Pretty cool! It's kinda funny as I saw a post somewhere for making micro coils and the guy was using a stepped mandrel. I searched up and down at all of the crafts and bead stores for one. Finally found a set at Micheal's. The guy at the register asked me if I was going to make chainmaille. Rather try to explain that I was going to use it to build vape coils I just nodded and said yes. He thought that I was cool. I had always used a blunt tip needle or a tooth pick and needed something different. The mandrel just didn't work out for me. Then I found that little jig thingie and that works great for me but of course I'm pretty much stuck on micro-coils only.

It took me over 7 months to find my last home. What a pain it can be. I wish you the best.

I always did just fine, wrapping my coils on my micro screw-driver. But, this popped up. And, it looked like a cool new tool(Uh toy.) Plus, I had just read about the whole 'tension wrap' thing. So, I figured why not?

BTW: Honestly, my shrink did tell me to buy myself something. For some reason, she thinks my 'eccentric frugal' is a problem. What's up with that? :) Hey Ace Wop! Our resident psych pro! You want to weight in on this one? :)

Here's my coiling machine I built from the plans of an ECFr.

Wow - your coiling machine is incredible!

It is a Coiling Gizmo.

I've never ever considered something like that. What an amazing toy!

When wrapping coils I used to use a helping hand tool like this:

I recently got a coil jig, a nice little car key-sized tool like this that seems to work well for me:

Those 'helping hands' are so cute! I have something like that. I love tools! :)

You can use an eraser to clean up the gunk. And I'm assuming you've cleaned it recently, make sure to get EVERY nook and cranny good and dry. The blackness usually happens when something wasn't completely dry internally.

Sedge had a problem somewhat similar. It is somewhere in this thread. He posted several really good photos if I recall correctly. Small bits of moisture under the negative contact point screw was the suspect. It doesn't take much moisture to cause a problem.

@ kde1

Did you recently clean your switch? I found a bit of residual moisture caused my battery to bleed black goop. Now I'm extra careful to dry it

I had cleaned it about a week ago and had it sitting on my desk for 5 or 6 days unused. Popped the battery in and an hour later go to change it to find the black stuff. I'm wondering if there wasn't some water trapped under the screw after tightening it down.

I'm going to find myself an eraser, clean this up, and give it another try with the same battery!

There's a nice 2.5 over in the classies for cheap. $100 shipped for a SS 2.5 18490 with v3 topcap.
Damn wish I had the spare cash right now.

That's cool! Never thought about that. I had just watched this super_X_drifter vid(But, I don't 'get' the cueing thing.):

I don't know what you are referring to without watching the video as I've never seen this one. Russ is a nice guy and tries in his video's. But this one is tainted for me from the start because I hate the tool he is using. I recognized it as soon as I started the video, then stopped it. I'll watch it later - I'm not in the right mind set for it right now. Months ago I bought an Artistic Wire Coiling Gizmo when they were $20, a total waste of $20 plus shipping to me. It's been in the box on a shelf ever since.

Nope, that's Almood by FourSquare in Athens. It has an aluminum body, SS caps and a pretty convenient button.

Looks very nice! Are there other manufacturers in Athens? I like to buy Greek mods/atties, have to keep it in the family lol.

Thessaloniki is more convenient but for Athens I can send my ex-gf over to buy me some stuff if it isn't available online!
