New wicking materials arrgghhhh would I sound like a sh** if I said that I like the silica wicking and cotton for my builds?
Now I am I tested in try the kdg but only because it is supposed to be aesomesauceL

I don't pay attention to it either. I bought a bag of cottonballs & by rough estimation, they should outlive me by many years even with frequent rewicking. I do have some KGD, but just because I got some free with an e-liquid order. It's good stuff. It's a slight, but noticeable improvement over regular cotton balls, but honestly I would never go buy the stuff. Cottonballs are dirt cheap, a bag lasts forever & best of all... I already have a decent supply. If they keep sending more freebies with my e-liquid orders, I'll definitely use them though.

To me, taste is just a bit better than standard cotton balls, with the kgd, but the big draw for me is the improved consistency of my wicks.

Cutting to size is extremely easy as well as improved wicking (maybe just perceived) because the fibers generally all go in one direction.

I had a hard time getting consistent, repeatable results with a cotton ball.

And here I'm sitting on silica, organic cotton, rayon, KGD and now RxW.
I have no clue what I'm going to do with it all. It's enough for more than my life expectancy.

Oh well, I must be a wick nerd.

Add to that raime, bamboo and hemp and that's my wick box. Funny thing is I never got around to using them.

I like cotton, Shiseido a bit over KGD, but I been on rayon for a few months. Sometimes I think the cotton tastes better with some juices.

I tried the Readywick. I just didn't care for it.

I always had trouble getting consistent wicks with the CVS cotton balls and got scratchy throat with Rayon.
The KGD is a dream when it comes to cutting consistent sized wicks every time.
Funny, no way in hell I'd pay $12 a box for 60 cotton pads under normal circumstances.
Ya'll can keep all your new fangeled Wicks of the Week! I'ma just sit here and horde my KGD :D

I don't have a problem getting consistent wicks with cotton balls, but it does take a bit more time & patience to prep them. My method is to unroll the cotton ball to the long, wide strip it was before they balled it up. It's wide enough to get 2-3 wicks across the width, so I separate it as necessary. Then I cut off a portion that's a bit too short, pull the fibers out bit by bit to line them up until the wick is about 2x as long as it needs to be. Fold in half, touch it up slightly & presto. The hard part is pulling it evenly, but with a little practice it's not all that difficult, it just takes time & patience.

The one liquid I don't use the pads on at all is my blueberry muffin vape that I have every morning. It's a big time gunker. When I was using it in a KFL, I didn't quite fill the tank all the way & had to rewick before every refill.. maybe 3.5 to 4mL or so. Now I've dedicated my 2nd Heron to it & it goes a little longer. I think because it's not getting cooked around the coil as much. I'm still rewicking every 6mL or so. At least with the Heron I can just rewick it whenever instead of accidentally overfilling & having to either drain the tank or vape my way through a gunked coil. Either way, it still goes through way too much wick to use the expensive stuff on it.

The worst one for me was rayon. I was skeptical & didn't even try it until someone sent me a bag of it. I can't stand the taste of it. Cotton is much cleaner, flavor-wise, in my opinion.

I've done a few of the hyped wicking matterial's in turn since I started vaping... silica, mesh, organic cotton balls, KGD, SnC, CC and now RxW. Each has worked mostly OK at the time I first did them in the rebuildable toppers I was using at that time, but some way better than others. I got tired of messing with silica and mesh AND the toppers I used them both in... became a dedicated cotton user more than any other when the OCB's came along. KGD was a huge improvement on OCB in ease of use and faster wicking for me. The CC (Rayon) was even faster wicking and easy enough in use, but with my long lung hits I burnt and destroyed the wicks pretty fast so had to constantly rewick. The SnC reminded me of silica, didn't work well for me in the toppers I wanted it for. So it was back to the KGD and that's what I have stayed with for a long time. I'll give the RxW a fair chance to prove itself... if it doesn't I'll be back with the KGD that I am very OK with in any of my current toppers. Even after all this time the one box of KGD I bought will last me for a long time yet. So what to do with all the silica, mesh, OCB's, SnC and CC? They're all together in a box set aside, backup's that could be used in a pinch if the need arises. Cost matters not to me to have what works the best for my style of vaping... the cost of all the wicking I have ever bought is next to nothing in comparison to everything else.

This morning I'm mostly vaping my all time favorite joose with RxW, and it IS getting it done way better for me than even my preferred KGD does. Even so only time and more playing will tell if RxW will remain in my line up. Like with all the others, I have enough of it to last a long time so won't need to buy any more wicking of any kind for a very long time.

Not hype... I said "for me" for all of this. YMMV ;)

Just a curiosity question S, are you building micro coils and pulling the RxW through it or wrapping the wick?

Vape On My Friends!

Just wrapped a couple in the wee hours so far to get it in use. But the first attempt was a micro coil built on a Q-Tip shank per a fellows favorite 3mm build for RxW. But at 3AM I was tired with tired eyes and I couldn't get the tappered RxW to screw into the coil. My Q-Tip shank is smaller than the optimum stated for 3mm (which is supposedly a coil from a 2.5mm form, the 2mm from a 1/16" form build). I haven't bothered again yet. Just wrapping is working fine enough for now (although I'm told it will be a considerably better vape when I do it right). If you wrap, use a needle down the middle of the wick for support and don't wrap it too tight and choke the wick. And keep in mind a little goes a long way... the finished wick does not need to be long. Mine only have about 1/8" out each end of the coil for the squonkers and work just fine for 4-5 lung hits before I normally squonk again. I will have to make them longer for a Heron when I get to it naturally, especially if I use the cotton cap.

Hello my GP Family!

My house inspection is tomorrow morning. Excited about getting an opportunity to see my potential new home again. I probably won't see her again, until I take possession in December.

Going to be a busy day tomorrow. Inspection.. Voting.. Doctor appointment. I have something 'very scary' looking, growing in my ear. I made an appointment with a doctor. Fingers crossed, it isn't as bad as it looks. :) Growing older is grand. :)

Love my GP Family! Love my Xs. :) Take care all! :)
