Until the PAPS v4 I thought the best switch of any mechanical mod was the PAPS X. The v4 is an amazing mod at an amazingly fair price with the best switch I have ever used.

It just looks so amazing, can't see the seams at all, just so damn sleek

PapsX, best switch ever....until this. Paps v4 is now king. Thanks perseas, very well done good sir. The switch is AWESOME. I did have to change out the gpin thingy and plastic thingy but no real heartache there. Seamless is gorgeous.

I have a superT here with a recessed switch that I never use because there's no way to lock it. In general I've stayed away from recessed because of that. I know I know it's recessed, but I want that thing locked if its going in my pocket.

Super stoked!

Very few recessed switches have locking mechanisms. That's one of the many things that I love about the Paps v3 and v4 and Piccolo v4. I like having that extra level of comfort that I can lock my mod to protect against accidental fires.

The Paps v4 switch is simply divine. I don't miss the notches that were employed in the v3 switch and although I initially had reservations about the mixed brass and stainless steel button with the aeolipile logo, in person I think it looks gorgeous (especially with a LUX tube). The Paps v4 switch fires from ANY position and the short throw is ridiculous (it has to be less than a mm with the shorter insulator). The locking ring spins much more freely than the v3's. I find myself playing with it, spinning it back and forth, much like I did with the v2 switch except now I don't have to worry about accidentally unscrewing the switch after it binds. I'm just loving it.

Occasionally when I would change batteries the Paps v3 switch would come loose and there would be a gap after I attached the top cap, so I'd have to loosen the top cap, tighten the switch, and screw the top cap back on. I found myself making sure that the Paps v3 switch was fully screwed on and holding it in place when putting on the top cap. I no longer have to worry about that with the Paps v4 - another benefit that it offers to make things stupidly simple.

Although it's not as exceptional as the switch, I also love the new top cap. I used to swap between the stock v3 top cap with air grooves and the v3 flat top cap depending on what atomizer I would use. Now I have one top cap for all occasions (except when I remove it to use a Heron).

I've been looking forward to the Paps v4 for a while, simply to use the new top cap and switch with my Paps v3 LUX tube. Although it isn't drastically different from my previous setup with the Paps v3 top and switch, it offers a handful of small functional and aesthetic improvements that vastly enhance the overall daily usability and experience.

I think VapourArt should design a 22mm RDA without visible air holes on the sides. And fits on a the new paps v4 with a hybrid look.
Go get you a Heron!
It is hybrid and I can't describe how gorgeous the V4 looks with a Heron on top.
Oh, yeah...
My V4 arrived today!
Beautiful!
All of my other Papses are Lux. This is my first SS and so my first Paps I can handle without obsessive concern for smudges and fingerprints (lol).
Yeah, I'm a bit nuts...
;)

I don't know what the v3 switch is like, but this v4 switch does have a notch on the inside. It doesn't spin at all. So it can't back out. And the locking ring stops flush at the bottom of the tube before the point where the switch is screwed in on the inside, so the switch can't be unscrewed when the device is unlocked. The locking ring doesn't get stuck ever. To top it all off, the throw is so short, its got a throw like the Home button on an iPhone. You could hit it with your knuckle. So you lose no ease-of-use by having it recessed. It is a very well thought out design.

The Paps v3 switch had notches that helped keep the button from spinning, but they were visible on the outside:

Actually, I like the aesthetic of the V3 switch.
I do understand what you were saying about keeping it tightened, though.

Actually, I like the aesthetic of the V3 switch.

I prefer a round button, but the Paps v3 switch was a dream to use, rivaled only by the Paps v4 switch IMHO.

I would take my Paps v3 switch apart on a weekly basis and clean off the crud that would collect on the inside top of the locking ring. There was a visible and deep gap between the locking ring and the switch housing when it was locked. This is not the case with the Paps v4 switch - it just exposes a small crevice when locked and I'm hoping that it will require less cleaning.

There's a listing for a GP Heron v1 and v1.5 in the Classifieds by one of our family members...
I just looked at it, but I am in the UK right now and moving back to the US in August. So I can't buy from a US seller for another month yet.

I have one of each and either is a GREAT vape!
If you drip, you'll probably enjoy the 1.5 more - it's airyer.
The thing about Herons - incredibly simple to build, refill and maintain and the flavor they produce is darned close to dripping.
