With Perseas blessing, I was honored and delighted to receive and test the prototype version of the upcoming GP Spheroid V3 and am excited to share a few pictures and thoughts.
First of all, I tip my hat to Perseas for listening to the many GP Fans that loved the Spheroid but wanted a bit more airflow to go along with it. Many including myself would rate the Spheroid as the top atomizer in our vaping world. Now, the rest that needed more air will make it theirs.
At first glance, you will notice there are two very adequate air holes on the exterior base. I will tell you that with the new edition of the air holes there is plenty of air circulating up through the chimney to keep the lung hitters with a permanent smile.

Breaking the Spheroid down and comparatively inspecting it with the previous version I noticed a few changes. One of them was the taller air chamber rise on the top of the base under the coil and wick. I see benefit in that any juice on the deck from over wicking will less likely drain into it. I also suspect being closer to the coil will allow a better flavored vape(this seems impossible as it is awesome already).
I remember Perseas often instructing builders to keep their coil/wick 1mm-1.5mm from the center hole for a better experience.

When I received the V3 I immediately took it apart to inspect...I struggled with the top cap as it would not unscrew. Finally, after staring at it and willing it off it hit me that it was press fitted with an oring! I must say it is a PERFECT fit! I love it!
I find it is quite easy to push it off from the bottom bell. The o-ring size is perfect and the tolerance fit could not be better. Most of us Spheroid lovers know that on the previous version the top cap was often took some work to unscrew. Now it installs and removes like a dream.

The vapor production is incredible and the airflow is amazing. I can not wait for the release.

I, once again am ever impressed by Team GP as all of their devices move forward in advanced design. I also find it very refreshing that Perseas cares enough to always listen to his fans trying to satisfy every group of vapors and he nails it every time.
GP you nailed it with the V3. Thank you for thinking of us. Love you man!

We are going to Sofia the day after tomorrow to finalise the design of GP Spheroid v3. The unit will retain the bottom air holes of v2, unlike the prototype which Idahobro showed a few post before, because we found the flavour to be somewhat muted compared to v2. The small size of the atty doesn't permit us to make an AFC ring. There is another change not pictured in the prototype and I will post about when we finish. The 510 bottom cap is threaded without the external lip of v2, the same as the shown prototype.

A machined slotted like the Heron that slips over the air holes may prove to be effective. But, I would question the expense vs. the results.
It would have to be adjusted prior to building wick/coil as the size of the ring would not be easy to move with a complete Spheroid at the correct tolerance. And, removing the tank to adjust would be a pain.
I enjoyed the simplistic answer to call with 2 holes.

I question the expense versus the results too! The side holes affect the draw and the flavour in a way that is perfect for some and too airy for others.

Expanding on what Idaho said with my thoughts. If the two holes were left in the side could you not just make a circular delrin insert that sits inside the base with a slot in it ? Something that you could place where you wanted then when you tighten the base on it holds it in place.

The parts that sit somewhere, always fall on the carpet ...

I must do an exact build to compare :). I was going to do it yesterday and was lazy to break a set up Spheroid down . I should of known you would push me to compare side by side exact builds and juice!

Truth, Many times have I strained the contents of a vacuum through a pasta strainer after using a magnet  I suck.

I now use a magnetic mechanics tray.

^you listening P? We talked long ago bro :) GPlate. Dooo eeet bro!

Every vaper has a 'carpet monster' and this is mine.

It has eaten quite a few small screws and a Spheroid 510 insulator in it's time. They fall at your feet and vanish forever.

Having said that , what I'm talking about would be a ring that would go from top to bottom in the base and be 1.5mm or so thick and you'd want it black so you couldn't see it through the holes. It would difficult to lose and IMO be a totally viable solution.

I picked up my first spheroid. Tried first build after reading these threads and watching a few posted videos. Think the piece of fluff that I cut was too long, but not wide enough. I cut a piece ~ 2.5" long by whatever the height the fluff was. when I took a hit it was gurgling, yet dry @ the same time. Used my usual micro with cotton. I could tell that the draw would be nice once I get her up and running, I was worried it may be too tight. Wasted liquid, but I figure I will try again tomorrow as I have the day off, I just think I need to sit down and focus a little harder.

I am one that has much success with a 2.5-2.75 x .75 (inches) piece. I wrap it with little tension and trim the width 1-2mm below the bell. Before I fill with my 18 ga syringe I poke the fluff with it to make sure it passes without resistance. I then am able to put 3-3.5 ml of 50/50 or 25/75 in. The first refill will come early as the fluff settles and breaks in.
My Bro Q uses less fluff and it works for him. You will get it to the science that works for you.
Are you micro coiling or standard coil? I have pics in my gallery that may help.
Keep us posted!

what if you had the side holes drilled into the deck of the spheroid below or between two o-rings and had the slot placed on the corresponding location of the tube body? The overall assembly would be identical to the Heron minus the AFC ring with the center tube now acting as the AFC....less parts. But this may trigger everyone's OCD if any engravings are to be applied to the center tube.

It's late over here. I'm sorry if this is a terrible idea and i'm just babbling.
