Well i used an altoids tin mainly cause its metal, has plenty of room (first mod) and fits an 18650. image.jpgimage.jpg

As you can see i was very liberal with the hot glue, im thinking about making a "bed" for the battery so its a bit more snug, that or go and actually buy a batt holder. I need to get some jb weld

Is the battery removable? Looks like the top wire is glued to the battery. I'm going to get an 18650 holder that I can install into something to make it easier to install and remove. Problem is, finding an enclosure that's easy to open. I would like to have an actual box that looks somewhat professional. But most project boxes are for AA, AAA or 9V

Yep the battery is removable, its fairly secure already, but im trying to drop proof it cause of someone who broke both of the battery doors on the original grippers...

As far as looking more professional I was thinking about using my dremel buffing tool and buffing all the paint off, then you could leave it silver and brass color or paint it whatever you want.

Actually, I have the perfect idea that I'm going to try this weekend. I don't know how well it'll work, but it sounds like fun. I'm keeping it under wraps until I figure it out

I was actually thinking about a snuss tin, I dunno if it would fit an 18650 though... If I used a 14500 battery would it work with the gripper internals? I have a bunch of 14500 IMRs lying around unused since I have the gripper...

Yes the 1-14500 battery would work , just a shorter run time cause its MAH is lower rated than the bigger 18650 battery.
You could run 2 -14500 batteries hooked in a series instead of 1 battery.

I suspect you meant parallel rather than series... Series would create up to 8.5 Volts where the gripper is likely expecting up to 4.25 Volts. I don't know that the Gripper electronics are made to handle that. Parallel batteries would provide 4.25 Volts with twice the mAh of a single battery.

I am totally "borrowing" your altoids box idea....but I decided to cut the gripper box and save the battery side. Hot glued it into the tin, after it sets I am gonna work on Dremel-ing holes for the switch and connector.

Okay my modified altoids box totally worked!!!! Any why can I not post pics? I took 3 good pics, if someone can help me post them that would be great!

Here's what I did: I took the dremel down the middle of the battery holder side of the gripper. Separated the window and button side, edged off the top of the battery door to make it flush. Hot glued the battery door onto the body of the old gripper housing and then hot glued it into the tin.

Then I cut a small square in the back of the tin for the switch and hot glued it down. Then I hot glued the batt spring back to the top of the old housing. I took the dremel to the top of the tin for the connector hole. I actually snipped the connector wires so I could put the connector through the top and have it sit flush. I then hot glued it into place. Once the glue set, I re-soldered the wires I snipped, hot glued over them for added strength. Loaded my battery, and presto! Works just like it did in the old housing! I would not hesitate to drop this at all. It feels really sturdy!

This is the first time I have modded anything so I am pretty stoked!! The gripper that I used to make this mod met its fate when I dropped it from about 4 feet up into my ceramic tile floor. Broke the battery door slides. Rubber banded it until my new gripper got here. My poor provari is collecting dust because I love the gripper so much!

nice im glad its working out so well. I would have put the connector in from the top but I don't have a soldering iron to reconnect the wires so i made a bigger hole and pushed the connector (wrapped in electric tape to make it wider) up from the inside. I added a LOT more glue to make mine solid and now my wife stole it...

So i made another one out of a metal laser pointer case I found (I'm glad I don't throw stuff away!) Its about 6 inches long and 8 with the SRT on it, but its only about 1.5 inches wide so its a bit easier to hold. I found the altoids box kind of a pain to push the button on until I found that its more comfortable to push the button with my forefinger rather than my thumb, this was before my wife stole it...

You have to go to advanced then to attachments, your pics may also be too big. If they are too big you can post them on a photo sharing site and link to them.

Your very right my mistake as i was thinking at the time of my Box mod that has a step down regulator. ; )
