I just sent you a PM lol making sure you got it. Wow, the insides are so nice and clean...too bad the outside looks so used. Was the problem what you thought it was? The 510 connector? This is so cool watching my Gripper being showcased on ECF, effing sweet!:confused:

Firewing's Gripper:

Looks like the inside part of the 510 connection is all off kilter and messed up...

Has anyone tried to rebox their gripper? Mines being held together by tape and the batt door is held closed by a rubberband. I was thinking maybe an altoids box... But i dont have a lot of exp with this kind of stuff.

I would love to put together a new box fire my Gripper. Please let me know if you come up with anything:)

I was thinking about using an altoids tin, maybe the sour gum one if the components fit. I have virtually no exp with electronics modding though so I'm still researching.

With all this talk of the Gripper being so fragile. Faint hint of paranoia creeping in.
I'm going to use an old iphone sock to keep it safe.
This should protect it and will match one of my winter scarves perfectly. :D:facepalm:

Rader, about Firewing's gripper, what causes the isolator inside the connector to perish like that?

Are you able to open the gripper like in the picture or once opened like that it has to be glued shut as i see plastic screw posts like it has screws and is screwed together ?
I just may get one use it then mod it into another box.
Thanks

That's great Rader fixed your Gripper! How long have you had it Firewing? So far I love my Gripper, no issues with battery door and the 808 connection seem real strong, no wobbles. Almost dropped it a couple times but managed to hold on. Works great with my tank too!

Most likely screwing down the atty too tight. We are all conditioned to think that if it has threads then it needs to be screwed down tight. This isn't always a good thing for us.

It was the isolator inside the connector.

Yours is the left and middle pieces, the good replacement piece on the right.

So Rader2146, the issue was that I screwed the atty down too tight? Probably over and over to, dang!

Njt07, I don't have that kind of experience in that area, I would end up blowing myself up!

plantlvr I'm so lucky that Rader2146 offered to fix it. I've had it about 5 months.:(, I'm so excited to get it back. The lavatube sucks compared to the Gripper!!

That's the beauty of these, the ability to rehouse them. Just a matter of finding a box.
I think it clips together just plastic no screws, no glue unless the clips break, then tape does a rather good job of holding it together.:D
Honestly, I don't think they're all that fragile, it seems to luck of the draw.
Best thing though, these little are powerhouses.

Now if i could just find a working broken one that someone does not use in the classy's i would be set.
Just hate to buy a new one full price to tear out its guts.
