I just wrote smoktech with the following message. I hope they respond. If so, I'll post it.

" I love the gripper and am part of a forum (ecf) where the gripper is discussed. The gripper's electronics are wonderful, but there are major problems with the plastic case. The 510 connection becomes loose after some use, and the battery door fails for many users. I sincerely wish you would consider placing this design and electronics in an aluminum or stainless steel case with a more secure battery door, and no finger grips...just a smooth convex side for comfort. I believe if you do that...and keep all other components the same (18650 battery, etc) it will be the best selling e cig mod on the market, and will sell better than the zmax. I had two vv strippers and both broke after one or two months of use. I took out the electronics and placed them in a metal case and it works fine...but I'd rather have a nice finished product, that I would be willing to pay double the price of the plastic gripper. Thank you. "

Ah, I was reading iTazle and google didn't find anything ;)

Can anyone enlighten me, this and all the new stuff coming with integrated battery just sounds bad to me, I just bought 4 more panasonic battery, when I'm on the go and the battery is low, I just switch it with a fresh one, you can't do it with that one, and it's only 2600 mAh which only last a day, it really doesn't sound practical at all, am I missing something or what?

I'm not a fan of proprietary batteries either but for the price... its a nice pv.

Eventually though the battery will slowly die and the entire unit will need to be replaced.

I'm sure there will be those who modify and replace the battery though.

Ha ha. Only reason I didn't get that one is that it has 5v max, and not sure that I like the connector placement.

Doing fine with my provari, Varicool 6amp, and my gripper tin. They never did respond. I imagine some day they will improve the case...and it was certainly pleasant to use.
