I recently quit smoking. I went the route of ecigs -- roughy started last year -- and smoked ecigs for about 3 weeks or so. I started to develop phlegm. (There is a post I started about liquid nic might "potentially" be causing more harm then good, in light of the phlegm that it causes to develop on some people).

Anywho, back then I was bummed that I couldn't vape. So I went back to analogs. Tried quitting a couple of times during last year, but then went back to smoking.

This year, in Jan, I ran into an old buddy of mine (ex smoker , now for 2 years), and he told me he had quit after reading a book. of course, I laughed at him. How can a book help you quit smoking! So, he said that if I want to quit, he'll bring in the book. I had been wanting to quit for some time now, so I asked him to bring it.

I read the book. Smoked my last cig on 2/12/11, and haven't smoked since!

The book is: The Easy Way to Stop Smoking. Author: Allen Carr.

If anyone really wants to quit, I would recommend this book in a heartbeat. The thing is, you have to want to quit. The book will help to put you in the right frame of mind to quit. Get your self a copy for about $4 - $8 (used - new). It doesn't hurt to read it.

If you are resourceful, you'll find a pdf copy online as well as the Audiobook ;)

I wanted to post in here, so others that are looking to quit can benefit from my experiences and rid themselves of this nasty habit.

Best!

No analogs since Feb 1st of this year, after 29+ years of smoking. Wasn't looking to quit because I liked to smoke. But I quit the day I got my 501. Had 3 puffs a few days after starting vaping, and it was nasty. Haven't looked back since.

As other have said, my overall health is improving, especially breathing and taste. vaping has saved my life IMO.

It took me a few weeks to fully stop but I did, like others here have as well. I was getting to the point that simple things had become harder and I only smoked for just shy of 18 years I think, I would much rather vape now than ever go back to smoking. When you are not even 30 yet and getting random pains in your chest, you know its finally time to really give it up. Good luck to you & your hubby too. :)

Just thought I would update... Still vaping, this time since Feb 11. Husband went back to smoking, but still vapes around me - to help me from going back. I did try to smoke a cig this past week, while vacationing with inlaws - could only take 2 drags and had to put it out. Terrible taste left in mouth that i couldn't seem to rinse out. And, it didn't even give me the feeling it use to. That's a good thing. Now if only I could cut back on the strength I'm using.. :)

Usually when I haven't smoked cigs for a while (in the past) when I finally do have one, the taste and feels reminds me of why I started smoking in the first place. Now, since using the vapo, they taste like sheet. Dog sheet, even. Must be the other chemicals not present in the ecigs; now that those are gone and only the nic remains, the body no longer wants nic from a regular cigarette.

Psychosomatic maybe, but if it works....

Been 100% analog free since the first day with the e-cig. I use the e-cig and have maybe 2 or 3 nicotine lozenges a day. That combo works well for me thus far. I was a pack a day smoker for 17 years. I have tried quitting before on just the patch or just the lozenges, and it never stuck... my goal is to (soon) not use the lozenges at all, and just vape.

Almost 2 mths to the day since I had an analog. Recently I was cleaning out my work van and I found one, hmmmmmmmm I think I'll smoke this I thought to my self, I went to my lighter but it was not there, so I broke it and threw it in the garbage. I have tried nic pills champix and patches nothing has worked for me but vaping. I was smoking $20 a day away, I so far have saved a few bucks ( after kits and parts ) but I feel I can run a marathon.
