Have you been able to flip anybody and if so, how?

I'm curious as to how many people on here have been able to get others to give up smoking for vaping and how long have they stayed cig-free? Also, how did you persuade them to do it? Was there anything specific that helped? Is conversion to vaping a common occurrence talked about around here? Does anyone have a link to vaping statistics? I'm interested in knowing what the rate of increase is in the number of vapers over the last couple of years. From all the 'out of stock' items I see on the internet for vaping accessories, it looks like a booming business. I'll bet BT is watching this market with considerable alarm as this could potentially deal a huge blow to their industry (YAY!).

I haven't converted anyone yet but I would like to convert my mom. I think she would feel an immediate impact in her ability to breath as she has COPD. I would like to hear what others have done especially with the older folks to get them to switch to vaping.
Thanks for reading!

Ahh, the direct approach. I guess you had been vaping for awhile and so she got the good stuff after your trial and error? I think a lot of people give up on their own because they don't know how good it can be. They buy something from Walgreens or RiteAid and it just doesn't satisfy the nicotine urge, or even worse they get the burnt taste and are then convinced that all e-cigs are a crock. I thought that when I first started but after watching some guy on youtube blowing huge clouds of vapor out of a PV without hacking his lungs out I decided to look online for better a better vape. I'm glad I did because I feel a lot better than I did a month ago.

I have a friend who smokes and when I whipped out my ego the other day he looked over at me and thought I was getting ready to smoke a crack pipe. After he realized what it was I asked him if he wanted to try it. He vaped a couple hits and passed it back to me without saying much. That was unusual as he is openly and upfront pro-smoking and would have put it down if he thought it wasn't any good. I think he was gauging if it would be an acceptable substitute for the filterless camels he's been smoking for 50 years. Next time we go out for a beer it'll be interesting to see if he wants to try it again.

I am up to number 18, I am not that nice, "here, try this (in a demanding tone!) Do you have any idea how many evil chemicals are in that cigarette? You get the same nicotine and it smells good" I have even had one guy say that he had no intention of quitting, the ego was much more fun and by the time he got around to smoking a ...., he said it tasted awful.

Most smokers want to quit, bit are not prepared to drop a bunch of coin on some voodoo stuff. I just let people try mine... most people ask to.. and I carry a spare drip tip just for that...
Everyone that has tried my ego-c with my mini vivi nova has asked me to get them one, and didn't care what the costs was...
ALL are still CIG free.....

2 so far but I wasn't aggressive at all. They were both curious so we talked about it. I gave them the forum info & told them they could borrow some of my stuff anytime they wanted to. After a while they saw it working successfully for me & came back asking more questions. One I took to my closest B&M & he was hooked. The other didn't want anything too complicated so she went with the blu. It worked for her & over a couple of months she actually worked her way down & quit all together!

Guess I would say that I flipped myself? Ran out of ciggys in late January, and had some nice devices that I was fiddling with. Didn't feel like going to the store to get more ciggys - so, I vaped. Never did make it to the store to buy more ciggys. I was well over a pack a day - sometimes 2 packs a day - have not had a SINGLE ciggy since. Not ONE...

Sometimes - can be hard if you are looking to get someone off analogs. Would be the same with my Mother - she wants easy - which means light a ciggy and smoke. Anything not dead simple and no fiddling - not interested. I would think that is a fairly common response to vaping when someone has been smoking for as many years. Fortunately, for myself, even though I had been smoking for 27 years - I also like fiddling and tinkering - so - I replaced ciggys with a new hobby. While I can't speak for them - I would think that a lot of the older folks aren't looking for anything fiddly at all - just my experience.

A friend of mine was curious about my Mystic E cig

I told him I was going to get a "real" one with a tank and flavors etc--he tried it was surprised at the vapor. I sent him a link to a website with the various flavors and he saw it working for me, figured it would work for him. He received his first one a week ago and bought another one a few days ago--has over 10 bottles of juice so well on his way.
My neighbors are watching my progress, it has been 4 weeks today so they ask more questions. The asked me yesterday if I would go to the closest vape store with them (200 mile round trip)...sure, let me know when. Give it a week or two and I'm sure I'll be taking a day trip soon.
I'm not religious about it, just let them try it, tell them how it works, what it costs and it works for me. My next E device will be much better and I'm thinking of a drip tip type gadget to carry around with spare tips. This way people can try no nicotine flavors so even the non smokers can understand what it does.
No pressure...

I generally am just ready to answer questions asked of me about it. I work indoors 8+ hours a day, so when I am on break I'm sitting outside right on the line between the smoking and nonsmoking section outside. Granted, at this point all of my coworkers know I vape and have seen it. Several have bought and switched and done good. Some switched, but as soon as a coil failed and they couldn't get vape, right back to cigarettes. I've also PIFed a fair bit of my earlier hardware as I could. Once won a 650mah Twist taking me to 4 of them, so I PIFed that and one of my original eGo-C batteries to a buddy with a 5 pack of CE3s. Also helped that he was visiting the same weekend as a vape meet at one of the local BM stores here in Orlando so he was able to try out some flavors and found some he liked. That was back in like Sept or so of last year. He's still vaping. He cheats and has an occasional smoke with a buddy of his ... but that's like 2 a month now, so not that bad.

Some people you'll never convert. One of the security guys as work once said "It's like taking a blow up doll on your honeymoon." Those types I just ignore and carry on.

I am working on my sister-in law but I am a little hurt. She saw how involved in vaping I was and saw all the stuff I had aquired in my six weeks of doing it. She also knows I successfully quit smoking with what I was using. Instead of asking me, she went to a friend of a friend who sold her some starter kit I haven't even heard of and now she is asking me why it isn't working for her. I have way more stuff than I need and could have saved her the $70 bucks she spent and had my first "pay it forward" moment. She is going to come over this weekend and I am going to show her how it is done. I have about 50 different juices and enough eGo twists and evods to survive the apacolypse. Oh well...at least I originally planted the seed in her head and her husband quit smoking cold turkey (said he didn't want to swap one habbit for another) so I consider that a win!! They go on vacation with us every year so getting them to quit has other benefits. Spending a week drinking and having fun with smokers could lead me down a path to smoking again.

Last week I gave two friends basic kits I assembled -- an eGo battery, a charger, a clearo and some juices. Both of them have smoked 1-2 packs a day for 20+ years.

The first friend quite literally never touched a cigarette again. Instant quit! I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it -- it took me about two months from my first vape to quit, and I found vaping utterly unsatisfying at first.

The other friend starts coughing and choking every time he tries to vape, and says it makes him want to smoke more. He's pretty desperate to quit, though, and is still trying to vape.

I've only been analog free for a month and have happily flipped 3 people, mostly by their needs, my best friend is a cheap ....... with tons of free time :) I got him hooked on the money saving side, ejuice baby, one friend a nurse, "do you wanna look like the 40-50 year olds with COPD?" and for those who just dont have the time but moneys not an issue, I recommend the disposable cartos, no fuss, plus I always carry around my vape dudes cards
