God I remember my mums typewriter, you know the one that went ding at the end of the line? Talk about working out your fingers.
I learned how to type during summer school between 8th grade and my freshman year in high school (1973). On an IBM Selectric. My Mom was fed up with my brother and me and there was no way she was gonna have us hanging around all summer so she made us both go to summer school that year. Naturally, I resented it but years later when computers became popular I was glad I took that class. I don't type correctly (I hunt and peck with my two index fingers) but I never forgot where the keys were.
