Bridget - walk to the back of your car, and gently run your finger around the inside of the tailpipe. If it's a little sooty, that's ok. If it's oily and grimey, that's not ok. That would be an indication that your engine is 'Burning' oil, although in older, high mileage vehicles it is most likely blowing past a worn set of piston rings that are no longer in tolerance. Once the piston rings / cylinder walls wear, the compression and exhaust strokes actually push lubrication past the rings and into the exhaust system.
What I can't figure out is if the guy didn't put enough oil in it, why is it taking till 7,000 miles later for it to make noise? And why didn't the oil light go on in your dash?

Dusty, I know Bronze fixed it last night. Y'all can call me KK or Kelly, or something close, as long as it is nice...lol. KK is quicker to type. But I answer to either. A lot of times in messages I just sign with a K. Well, it is still rainy and cold here. I am feeling better today. If the weather would clear up a bit, I might actually get out of the house, and buy some groceries. 
We are rife with sarcasm, tales of adventure, comedy and a bit of drama..But we have some really GOOD days on here..Mostly.

It's been making noise the whole time, we just couldn't figure out what it was. Never got an oil light, but my brother said the oil light is by pressure(?) so if there's not a leak the pressure stays ok and no light comes on... ( I totally don't get all this so I may have misunderstood!)
Going to check the tail pipe now Papaw..

Well I had a little Pirate's Booty last night to celebrate. I finished watching the last episode of The Walking Dead season 4. I was saving it for last night anyway. I wish season 5 would hurry up, while the episodes are all still fresh on my mind. Might be months before it comes on Netflix though, sadly.
