I don't know if it's because you're so smart or that God wants to keep you around because you are blessed. :)
Now THAT was funny thanks..Now I have this image of Bunny in my heed.

Congrats on the Hawks going to the finals, General.

If I don't have a rooting interest in the hockey playoffs (which I don't this year), I'd always prefer to see one of the Original Six go unless it's New York. I just can't bring myself to root for any team from New York in any sport, so I'm glad TB is going to the finals instead.

I feel that way about almost all the Philly teams. It's sad because I wouldn't feel that way if the Philly fans weren't so obnoxious.

Morning, Army fam!

I'm about to don my paint clothes for the last time here. Got a tiny bathroom and hall closet to paint. I also need to hang the heavy wooden handrail on the staircase. Instructions say to mount the brackets in the wall first, then mount the rail to the brackets. Since that's an upside-down operation, I'd rather put the brackets on the railing first.

Anyone here have experience doing this? My hands and arms are really aching from all the scrubbing, painting, and fixing up I've done for weeks. I'd prefer to avoid having to take the brackets off of the railing if it won't work. I'll be using a drill, of course, but at this point, that dang thing is heavy!

Edit: Ugh! Never mind. Just looked again at instructions. The rail mount is a strap that the wall bracket hooks into. Gotta do it their way.

You could mount to the rail first but you would most likely miss the wall studs, and the wallboard isn't sturdy enough to handle the weight or load.
Using the railing itself for a strait line, draw a pencil line about two inches below where you think the railing should be. Get a couple people to hold the ends of the rail steady while you do this. Then, using a 'Stud Finder' (mind above board, ladies) located where the wall studs intersect the pencil line. I personally mark both sides of the stud so I can locate the center. Mount to the center of each stud, making sure the top of each bracket (where it touches the wall) barely touches the pencil line. Once all of the brackets are in place and uniform to your pencil line, you should be able to mount the railing.

Thanks, Pawpaw. That makes sense. I should have said that I am RE-mounting the railing. Some years ago, my daughter's 17 yr old boyfriend decided to hold the rail and swing his legs out. Broke the railing bracket off, naturally. Laughed about it, and didn't bother to offer to make it right, like helping to fix it. I later ended up banning him from my home.

I've patched the drywall. Since that's where the stud is, I thought I'd go slightly higher than the original bracket was. I thought the joint compound might not be good to drill through to use the original drill spot.

Checking back in here before hitting the sack. Don't think we'll be hitting the 15 mil any time tonight (Bangkok night that is). Not gonna loose any sleep over it, but that P3 would be nice. The REO would be nice too, but then I'd have to buy a bf atty to go with it...

G-Night Army!

This year's iris. There is at least twice as much new growth as there was last year. I love that I got to see them one last time. (sniffle)

That picture is so pretty, I can almost capture the scent of the flower in my brain. I love bearded iris. Those giant ones... Sooo pretty and the scent... amazing. I bet you will miss them. Are you going to try to take a couple of roots with you? I bet you might be able to pot them on that patio/balcony. Not sure if they also need the freeze cycle to keep growing, like a tulip does.

My mom's mom used to grow the bearded iris. She would even create new breeds by cross pollinating them. (If I am remembering correctly)

I was just reading up on how to do it. You need to wait until after they finish blooming, and these just started. I'd be tempted to try anyway, but after uprooting, they need to dry in the sun for 3 - 4 days. Then they just need to be kept cool and dry. So, I don't have time. My brother's wife may take some before the house sells. I just need to make sure they know what they are doing. It would make me happy knowing they are enjoying them.

They aren't very delicate flowers though, as far as I've seen. The neighbor who gave them seemed to feel she was parting with her babies. She made me solemnly promise that I would value them and care for them! It was sweet.

I'm the same way about Philly teams too. And to make matters worse this year, I'm an OU Sooner fan and two of my favorite former Sooners (Sam Bradford and Demarco Murray) are playing for Philly.
