the average plastic grocery bag gets touched 5 times and has an active useful life of 35 seconds...

placed on rack/opened 4 seconds
placed on staging area 2 seconds
placed into cart 3 seconds
placed into car 4 seconds
removed from car into home 22 seconds....

And they could take 1000 years or more to break down. No one really knows. In the US alone, estimates are that we consume over 380 Billion plastic bags per year.

One of my clients sells really nice reusable bags. They roll up and fit in the palm of your hand, but hold over 40 lbs of groceries. All of their profit goes toward free environmental education resources aimed at teaching how to reduce consumption of single use plastic products.

It’s ConservingNow. Link below, if you’re interested. :)

Lori, that link was cool. I have 3 reusable bags that are similar, but they don't roll up. I keep one in the vehicle, because I am bad about remembering to bring it when I shop. They do come in handy, and hold more than you would think.

I use the cheap throwaway bags for various things. Mainly I use them as a bathroom trash bag. So they don't just get one use.

My holiday addiction to the Hallmark Channel just won’t let up. My girls come in the room, laugh or roll their eyes. They are all sickly sweet stories and I love them. They make me feel good.

@PapawBrett did your pico ever get to you?

Juice talk... I’m on a nut case kick, again. It’s one of those flavors no one talks about.

I scrolled back some more:
Random thoughts:

Robin sounds like she’s on a good roll with the chemo. Love your attitude.

My Outback has a Harman Kardon sound system.

You all had nicer holidays than I did. I got really screwed over and worked Christmas Day AND New Years Day. We did nothing special, no fancy dinners, no family, no friends. Just the 3 of us. Went to the movies after I got home from work on Christmas. Here’s hoping next year is a little better.

I won both my leagues in Fantasy Football, I like the color rush uniforms.

Why doesn’t David have his Corgi yet?

Reusable bags as mentioned above! I keep all of mine in the trunk so I have them when I need them.

@Bronze Congratulations! So awesome! As for the sleeping, as mentioned above get a knee pillow. Well, any old slightly flattened throw pillow will work. I use one every night.

@MostlySunny I'm so glad you got a new car!

PT went well. She had a little machine she referred to as "traction" - gently grabs the back base of the skull and stretches the neck vertebrae. Felt great, for about two minutes, then it started hurting again. I think gradually stretching out the vertebrae might be the way to go.
Papaw , the hospital mentioned doing acupuncture on me along with PT , they said the acupuncture would help relieve the muscle pain and stiffness I have . You might wanna inquire about it .

Yay for all of you using reusable bags! @kkay59 - I reuse the ones I get too for coffee grounds and such. We do what we can. :)

@MostlySunny - congrats on your new car! Sorry your holiday was disappointing. But your trip sounds fun!

Agreed on the leg pillow! I started during pregnancy to help my lower back. Bony knees and feet prone to problems were a good reason to continue. Hugging pillows help with shoulder pain too.

Broken down - yeah, a little. Old - uh huh. But still chugging along!

Early Spring, 2017: Looked in the mirror and was disgusted with myself. I hit my all time water mark at 232 pounds. I carry extra weight pretty good but this was unacceptable!

Spring, 2017: Painted the house. Took 38 days of hard work. I lost 10 pounds and down to 222 pounds. A nice start.

Summer, 2017: Didn't lose any weight.

August 14, 2017: Re-dedicated myself to losing weight by walking more (3 miles a day) and watching my diet (cutting out the bad stuff, increasing the good stuff, and watching portions).

December 14, 2017: Hit my goal weight of 180 pounds. Lost another 42 pounds since I rededicated myself. Total weight loss since early Spring, 2017: 52 pounds.

Today: 179.6 pounds. Holding and maintaining goal weight for 3-1/2 weeks. No problem. Haven't been this light since 1980. Feel freaking great!! Probably look better too but then I don't have to look at me so I don't care so much about that part. The best part is feeling much better. Worst part is sleeping and sitting. I sleep on my side and stack my legs. Can't do that anymore cuz my knees are bone on bone and it hurts. Sleeping on my stomach now. Can't sit on hard chairs anymore either. My tail bone grinds into the seat. Myass is gone and there is no cushioning. I go out to dinner and rock side to side in my chair. People look at me like I have diaper rash. It's embarrassing. Seats with cushions from here on out.

180 pounds of rompin' stompin' dynamite!!!

Inspiration: My mom. Gone from this Earth but she lives in me forever. Thanks Mom! I know you'd tell me to be inspired by someone else but you're still it.

Goals: This is just one of several goals I have set for myself concerning my health, happiness, and well being. Others are in progress and others have not begun. I'm just getting started.

    Advice:
None, other than find a source of inspiration.

    Good morning Army! :)

I have to sleep with a pillow between my legs to keep my hips perfectly aligned while sleeping - thats due to a bad back.. HOWEVER - it does have the added benefit of keeping your knees from touching and getting sore!

You can retrain your sleeping habits, I had to as I was a stomach sleeper before I got hurt. . Pain actually helps you to learn. So start trying with the pillow between your knees, it will hit the floor occasionally but after a bit you'll stop and begin keeping it there.. :)

As for those noassatall tablets you've been taking.. lol... carry one of those .... cushion things to events you know will have hard seats... it will be helpful.

Serious congratulations on the weight loss! :)

    It's nice seeing everyone back!

Well I went shopping and bought some new clothes. ..

Style-wise, I'm a very classicly dressed person... I wear dress casual whenever I leave the house, and when I wear jeans it's always bootcut jeans... I don't follow trends, generally speaking.

When the girls brought leggings back into style (remember that from the 80's... lol) I was like omg... that's not clothing! Didn't figure it would last very long.. well it's kicking out pants everywhere you shop.. even Levi is getting in on it..

So I needed a couple more outfits, and wanted something around the house casual for our trip next week to west virginia to visit the kids. I don't figure we are doing much besides sitting around the house visiting since they don't live near a town so I chose to finally check out some leggings as jeans.. and omg... it's no wonder the girls love these things...

Hahaha. .. so, now I finally have joined the newest clothing fad...

I also bought a pair of skinny jeans. .. and wow on those too.. they look painted on but they are soft and stretchy and really quite comfortable... and I have this suddenly perfectly flat stomach... lol.. beats any diet plan out there ! Hahaha

I never realized what modern technologies had done for clothes! Hahaha no wonder the girls love these things!
