Mornin'

The recipe is good , I was looking for a coupla things and he nailed it . The shortening and room temp milk are critical .
this one sounds really close to what I do... I use
1/2 cup water for yeast and 3/4 cup milk to mix
( let milk come to room temp as yeast is foaming)
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt ( if your salt sensitive substitute baking soda)
2 tblsp shortening melted ( I use Crisco)
3 cups flour
15-20 drops of Madagascar vanilla
1 egg ( large or jumbo)
and... peanut oil ( cuz thats what the wifey buys)
and, when rolling the dough out, dont mash it too hard try to keep it puffy soft ( your not making pizza dough)
I also like to let the dough "rest and puff" a bit after cutting into squares. When cooking, the idea is to "seal" the outside as soon as possible to keep the air in them so they puff up really good
a good bignet is mostly air![]()
...............I'm old enough to remember when you bought a refrigerator and expected it to last you for many years.
Very funny Hula. Have you ever seen an ice box? My dad bought one a long time ago. I think it is in good enough shape to be used. Now where to get that ice? The corner store carries ice, but not the blocks like they used to use.
Well, I got up early this morning. 6am is before daylight, and that is not my usual time to get up. (unless I need to go to the restroom of course) All I can say is, today is the big day. More details later. Happy Labor Day y'all!

The idea was to cut blocks from the winter river ice and stack them in the ice house. It would last all summer long. Then you could use this ice for your ice box. Works great up north. Not in Texas so much.Very funny Hula. Have you ever seen an ice box? My dad bought one a long time ago. I think it is in good enough shape to be used. Now where to get that ice? You might've guessed by now...
I'm a grandmother! My daughter is doing very well, and the boys seem to be just fine. What a relief. They are both adorable and they have a good amount of hair too. You can definitely tell they seem to look alike. I didn't get to see their eyes open yet though. One baby was about a pound and a half bigger than the other one. They were close to the same length though. I just cannot believe how cute they both are. I think you are going to be able to tell they are twins, at least at this point.

Thank you. I am very excited right now. More than anything I'm just so thrilled they all seem to be okay, and healthy. That is the main thing right at this time for me. I enjoyed hearing everyone say who they think they looked like. Some said my daughter, some said her husband, and one said one of the boys looked like my son. I dunno for sure. I see a little of both parents in the boys. I cannot wait to see their little eyes. They didn't care for the light. They seemed very content though, and I hope they are as easy as twins can be, for my daughter's sake.
