I’m reading and re-reading but I can’t tell what it is that you find odd in that. I’m curious though!

its a spaceport.... no geo-magnetic fields... ergo a compass wouldnt work... ergo no NSEW... and, why would they want to provide an artifical magnetic field there? if they did, it would suck up all the iron meteors towards it... :)

That makes sense! :)

I just saw this article. Made me wonder if your experience with lightning was similar to the list the article gives. Hair standing up, tingling skin, etc.

Decades later, hair-raising photo still a reminder of lightning danger - NBC News

Maybe, just maybe, my REOS collection is about to become complete....
Variable Volt Stabilized Woodvil. Only 24 ever made, about six years ago. The one REOS I have never owned.
Surfing the classifieds the other night, and buried at the bottom of page 2 ...VV Stabilized !
The Seller was nice enough to send me a dated video (today) of the device actually firing. Range from 3.15V to 5.2V, which is about right for the BuzzPro chip. Selling for about half of the original price.
I would say "This is my Last REOS, my collection is complete !" but we all know that probably isn't so...

Did the guy who swallowed up what was left of REO ever make anything of it?

He's trying. I don't know if he can repair as well as Rob. He has changed the website to where you can choose the Mod and the Door separately, to suit your own color scheme. But let's face it, the days of REOVille and the ProVarinati Saloon are long gone.

Pretty much. At least as it relates to the mods.

Ive done the same hair standing thing with a Van DeGraf generator... the time I had with the strike was too quick to notice anything, plus I was soaking wet from swimming. Altho, I was at a red light several years ago and the pole holding the cables for the light started to sizzle at the top point, I looked up and saw "streamers" emitting from it ( same as tesla coil streamers) and it exploded... sparks flew all over the place, the cap on top of the pole vaporized and the lights quit working... I felt the heat from the flash and couldnt hear for several minutes afterwards...

Yep, If your hair looks like that, you need to run like your life depends on it, because your life does depend on it, to a car or some other place of safety.

I never knew about the hair standing up aspect. I read about how you should crouch down on the balls of your feet in an article about someone who was injured by downed power lines and what to do if that happens. Never thought about it applying to lightning.

I’m just not gonna leave the house anymore. ;)
