I completely agree. That show jumped the shark a long time ago when they decided to focus more on Chum being a knucklehead than on Rick and the interesting stuff that comes in the store.
Exactly. And Corey is just a smartazz who needs his can kicked. He depresses me. Rick is the star of the show and they need to let him take it over. He has an infectious personality and the show would be so much better to let him interact with the people who come in his store. Everyone likes him and it's obvious he likes people. My favorite "expert" was Rebecca...the book girl. She was a sweetheart.

I just read an interesting novel by Michael Crighton on "global warming". He's an entertaining writer.

Crighton is one of my favorites, he writes fascinating stories, well researched all are completely different. I have read everything he wrote in an all too short life.

How would anyone really know if there really is global warming. The "scientists" have been caught so many times cooking the books, falsifying data and ignoring data that doesn't support their agenda, that I don't believe anything they tell me.

This world of ours has been going through periods of warming up and periods of cooling down for a long time. Nobody knows if there really is global warming (versus just going through another warming period), and if there is, whether mankind has played a role in it and, if so, how big a role.

Furthermore, nobody knows whether there's a damned thing we can do about it now, regardless of what caused it.

Oh they are going to "start" spraying to block the sun. They have been spraying for quite some time already. What could possibly go wrong? We need the sun and so do plants and trees. Just imagine now what this will do to the world's food supply. The more tinkering that goes on, the worse things get. GMO food is now being called bioengineered food. So food, water and air quality have been compromised. Let's go for broke and block the sun, just brilliant. We have primary water, but somebody will want to control that too.

Harvard Scientists Are Really Launching a Sun-Blocking Geoengineering Experiment
A proposal to spray particles into the atmosphere to reflect sunlight and lower temperatures is actually getting the green light.

The only “celebrity” I’ve seen since living here is Chum. At Whole Foods of all places. I no longer shop there so I won’t be seeing him again. He was being ordinary in the store. A little while later he was in the news for drugs and illegal weapons at his house. Also for opening a candy store with his cousin or brother. Limited hours and it might not even be around anymore.

I watched the show for Rick and the experts who came on. I liked Rebecca’s book info and Jesse the guitar guy’s info. The guy who reviewed signatures had cool gear and his info was interesting. His habit of looking above people’s heads while he talked to them got on my nerves a bit. My all-time favorite was Danny and his car & motorcycle info. Rick of “American Restoration” was interesting too.

@LAwaters side note.. completely hooked on the French press coffee. I use your method to make it every time.

Awesome! I think of you when I’m making mine. At gatherings, people liked the food I served, but they always wanted the coffee the most.

Chum bores me. His act ran its course long ago. But Corey, on the other hand, aggravates me. He has a serious attitude problem. He's an ingrate. Rick spent too much time at the store instead of slapping his son's mouth when he was growing up. It really interferes with the show and why I don't tune in near as much. My dad would have beat me silly if I ever talked to him the way Corey talks to his dad.

I have the same reaction. We do have to remember it’s a scripted show too. They are playing a character based on themselves. Since they are not great actors, they are portraying who they are - but amplified. At least it seems that way.

What's the name of it?
The Michael Chrichton book title is "State of Fear". Highly recommended if only because he's a great storyteller, but still interesting re: global warming vs mini ice age...and his hatred - like ours - of paid research (JUNK) science vs. HARD science.

Evening... Snow, rain, snow mix all day. And a winter storm is predicted for Saturday. Well guess I'll get to the store tomorrow so I don't have to go out Saturday. I'm off tomorrow to get my fingerprints done for the
Hazmat threat assessment. Then I have to hope the Gov. shutdown doesn't keep the paperwork from being done before March 21st when my license expires. Had a memo at work about it. Said that for every week the Gov. is shutdown 1 1/2 week will be added to the already 3-4 week time frame. Not looking good at this point. But worrying about it won't change anything and there isn't anything I can do about anyway.

Time for a beer....:)

or put a couple of floodlights on your car rear - better yet, buy a torch you can operate remotely that has that red dot. That would be fun!
