The Michael Chrichton book title is "State of Fear". Highly recommended if only because he's a great storyteller, but still interesting re: global warming vs mini ice age...and his hatred - like ours - of paid research (JUNK) science vs. HARD science.

That’s one I haven’t read of his.

Need to track that down.

Received the coils today Brett! Thank you! Am waiting for the doo-dah whatnot from fasttech. The coils are small! Can I eat them? (I'm referring to the saga of the rubber thingies for those who don't know the story)

That was quick. Those coils are 7 and 1/2 wraps around a 2mm drill bit, they should put you at about 1.5 ohms. The legs are extra long, you will need to clip them after you install and secure the coil. And cut them close, as the top cap is close when fully assembled.

Sounds like he should have added a few of Mamaw’s home baked goodies in there. Keep you from popping coils like candy.

The rubber thingie story was a little before my time, but it was funny in the retell I heard. Sometime you should share it again. ;)

Evening... Snow, rain, snow mix all day. And a winter storm is predicted for Saturday. Well guess I'll get to the store tomorrow so I don't have to go out Saturday. I'm off tomorrow to get my fingerprints done for the
Hazmat threat assessment. Then I have to hope the Gov. shutdown doesn't keep the paperwork from being done before March 21st when my license expires. Had a memo at work about it. Said that for every week the Gov. is shutdown 1 1/2 week will be added to the already 3-4 week time frame. Not looking good at this point. But worrying about it won't change anything and there isn't anything I can do about anyway.

Time for a beer....:)

When the govt shuts down you end up realizing how much in our business they are.

yup ... it was one of those nites... a tow truck driver was tailgating me by about 2-3 feet doing 65mph... I was so tempted to pull the handbrake....
seriously.. hes supposed to be a professional ( well maybe semi pro) driver and pulling BS of that nature?? Think I need to get a rearview camera for stuff of this nature...

Years ago I got annoyed at a tailgater. I was going home around 9 or 10 pm on a mountain road. I started pumping the brakes to get the guy to back off. He followed me at my turn - a seldom used road - and tailgated me all the way to my driveway. Scared me pretty good! I stopped using the brake light flashing after that! Instead I’d pull over when I could and let the idiots pass.

You’re right, it is worse when it’s a pro who should know better.

That's scary. I live a block away from our police station so if I'm being tailgated really bad I will just drive there and wait for them to move on before I turn back to go home.

Never hurts to carry a weapon in the car either just in case if pulling over is what they want you to do. :)

Good morning, Army!

Good morning, Army!

Mornin', General.
I have a super light weight SW .357 five shot revolver with me much of the time. I have a semi-unique concealed carry permit that allows me to carry it "...in all places in Kentucky"; only around 450 have been issued. In my former job, carry was not really a necessity but most comforting. I would, a few times a year, irritate the devil out of the irrational among us and we have a few here in ole KY. I drew it twice in eighteen years, never had to go any further, for that I give thanks. I load my own ammo and I put .38's in it. I shot two rounds with .357 and never again. First, I had a bruise for two weeks. Second, the recoil and shock was such that it would take forever to bring it back down and aim. A little less power and a lot more accuracy.

Exactly right. I have a 7-shot, .357 revolver and keep 38s in it (jacketed hollow points). The .357 mag rounds are just too much power to control if you need to rapid fire. Besides, a 38 accomplishes the same thing as a .357 mag without all the herky jerky.

If I were to carry mine in the car, I would need a counter balance weight to keep the car level.... :)

S&W 460 magnum 5 rnds. 8" barrel.

Now, I would call that a gun, maybe even a hand cannon.

I think that Nate in CJ Box's novels carries that but I don't think it is a concealed carry.

Grimm Green posted this to Twitter earlier today, saying this video truly terrified him. I agree!

We don’t need to wonder why media is in lockstep with their coverage of the alleged “teen vaping epidemic” because this is how propaganda works.

It’s referred to as Hegelian dialect:

  1. Create a problem (crisis)
  2. Stir the public into crying out for action
  3. Provide the solution - the thing you intended to do all along but didn’t want any uproar over doing it

Hellooooo!!!

Survived the week at work and it was very challenging. Got sorta caught up here, see we are discussing gun ownership again, a little vape stuff, a little lightening, some young gentleman’s driving habits (hang in there Bridget!), and Hulas infamous O ring :)

Miss you all! Actually have a 3 day weekend and am heading out for facials and massages with my youngest. But, all is relatively well here. Have a little health thing floating around but I’m sure all will be fine.

Every day on the news you hear the same lines (talking points) being repeated over and over and over. News isn't reporting anymore. It's advocacy.

Hi April! You were missed around here too. Glad to hear you’re okay. Enjoy that pampering.
