kewl... the place in Mandeville isnt too far off course from my M-F run... think Ill stop in and grab a few bottles.. :)

Not sure about the price they are showing. I get it at a Giant Eagle store that is one of three not far from me. Only the one has it because it is has an AAA rating. Who knew stores had a rating to decide what they stocked. The price is about the same as Chimay. Thing is you know it's around you just have to find out who the heck carries it.

I remember making such a comment when a certain lady mentioned her procedure on an earlier incarnation of the Big Thread. We all got quite a laugh. Well, maybe not you ....
I shall leave it to your varied and vast imaginations to fill in the blanks......

good morning! I made the 1000 mile drive to WV last Sat. It sucked, lol! Getting bored tho as DH works all day and there's only so much cooking and cleaning you can do in a 5th wheel. Ready to head home on Saturday for sure.

I thought my Honda did well on the trek, but checked the oil yesterday and it burned about 1.5 quarts.. I just bought more, lol. I don't want a new car/payment right now. It has been using oil for a few years now, but not usually that much. Hopefully I'll make it home, if not AAA to the rescue..

Good Morning Army. Bridget, if you are burning a quart or more per 1K miles, then you have a serious leak or your rings are shot. Try adding 1/2 quart of Lucas Oil Treatment (comes in a white plastic bottle) the next time you have to add oil. Doubt it will fix anything if you are going through that much oil ("Fill up the Oil and Check the Gas" :D) but it could help keep your Honda going a little longer.
Still not working, but walking is getting easier. Maybe Monday I can get back after it.

Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

Agree Pop. I went to FL in my truck once. Was a 500 mile trip and I burned thru more than a quart of oil. I was quite alarmed to say the least. But oddly, that never happened again. It was just that one time. I'll be danged if I could figure it out. Hasn't gone thru oil since and that was several years ago.

It's not leaking. I park in my garage at home and the same spot at work. No oil stains.

Years ago I had an oil change done, and we are 99% sure they didn't put enough oil back in it. That's when we think the rings got toasted.
Another reason why I work on my own vehicles. A major reason, actually.

I'd just keep feeding it oil until you're ready to replace the car.

Lucas Oil Treatment. White Plastic Bottles, any auto parts store. It actually works.

I used some Marvel's Mystery Oil in my crankcase a little while ago only because the truck had 160K+ miles on it and I never ran an engine cleaner/lubricant in it. It cleaned up the sludge that was in it but truthfully it was fairly clean. These days brand name oils have all kinds of detergents in them to keep the insides clean as long as you do frequent oil changes. Additives are not needed. As a rule, I do not like to run oil additives. They change the viscosity of the oil, usually thinner, and only increases wear. Some additives raise the viscosity which helps prevent excessive burning. But some of these engines with hydraulic lifters and/or VTEC (variable valve timing) can't handle thicker oil. Honda is one of them that uses hydraulic lifters and/or VTEC in some of their engines. Not sure about Bridget's car. I'm guessing no but I cannot be certain.

If I were going to use Lucas in Bridget's car I would use the thick stuff (heavy duty) but only if I knew my engine did not have hydraulic lifters and/or VTEC. She'd have to verify that. If she has neither then that Lucas Heavy Duty additive would make a huge difference in minimizing oil burning and well worth using.

Glad you made it! I love how we can mention an issue around here and almost instantly get lots of good advice on how to figure it out and fix it. :)

I can see how the days would get long. I’d probably end up reading through my entire digital library. (That’s a lot of books! :D ) But what is a 5th wheel?

And you’re all alone there without Mamaw to nurse you back to health. I’m glad you’re getting better though.

It's a 2010 Honda Accord v6. I've used an oil treatment in the past, not sure if it helped or not. I'll get some tomorrow after I do a little research.

I got some audio books for the drive, which helps a lot. The 5th wheel is a giant 40 ft camper. It has a hitch in the bed of the truck, vs hooking onto the bumper. Stock photo, but close to this.

If you're not sure just keep pouring oil in it. Keep a case in your trunk. Still cheaper than a new car. :)
