I cannot get thumbnail previews of my picture downloads in explorer. I tried the folder option view checklist. That is OK. Also did system properties, that is OK. Any other suggestions? Doesn't show in Downloads. OK elsewhere.

Did you install any image related software recently? When an app is associated with a file type, sometimes it changes the preview to its own icon.
In folder options on the view tab, you unchecked “Always show icons” correct?
This link has a list of ways to repair thumbnails. The last on the list is their sales pitch, but it’s a good summary of thing to try.

Well, I need to clarify. I can see the images in file explorer everywhere except when I open them in the download folder. Beats me why that happens.
I could be way off, but it makes me think of some kind of security setting. Downloads is the default for anything you grab via your browser. Previewing an infected image might be a security risk.

Could be right. I download them from the icloud. Once I move them to a regular folder the pix icon comes back.
What happens if you move a non-Internet downloaded image into Downloads? That might eliminate security as the problem.
OK, I just fingered it out. If I download one picture from icloud it shows the preview. If I download two or more pictures it does not. But it comes in a zip file and I never extract them. I just go to the next folder and open it up. So I extracted them first and now they show up in preview form.

Mac Book. No IE or Chrome. I do use Chrome on my Cellphone, adds galore. But I never read email or do any financials or my phone. It's just for calling and texting.
My next challenge is replacing DirectTV and Verizon with suitable, and much less expensive options. Any Ideas ?

the wifey transfered from Verison to Consumer Cellular went from 135$ a month to 42$ a month, she still has her smart phone, I had to drop my heavyduty fold fone for a cheap fold fone... The battery obly lasts 2-3 days as compared to the 1-1.5 weeks on the other one... and Verison is still trying to bill us 54$ for a tablet that was shut down too, the bank shuts down the payment but verison just hits us again for 2X the 54$ ( 108) and we have to fight all over again to get it taken care of.. the bank doesnt understand to stop payments perminently, they just want to do it per month. Since we dropped Verision, they wont deal with the wifey over the phone, they put her on hold for over an hour or hang up on her... they said we dont have an active account with them, if that is so then why are we being actively charged for a non useable pad??

As far as TV, we stream off of Roku etc, but between the internet bill and the monthly channel charges its just as expensive as Cox or satellite...
