Competence is a rare commodity these days. Personally, I'm always surprised when I get a live operator instead of a brainless phone tree.
Spectrum has a real doozy too. Very high tech electronic phone maze. They know everything you do. You call and eventually get to a branch that says, "I see you had a tech visit today, is this what you want to discuss?". Then a little later I visited their website to look at past bills to see what my cable package was. I call Spectrum a little later and the question was, "I see you visited our website, is this what you want to discuss?" Next time I'm gonna take a dump before I call and see what they say. :)

If they recommend Preparation H, you are in big trouble.

Evening..... Got Scruffy a new carrier. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QHC01C2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details He goes to the Vet next Friday for shots and I didn't think he'd fit in the one I picked him up in. He's as big as it is.. He wasn't sure of it so I gave a spray of catnip and put a couple of his toys inside. I'll leave it out so he knows it isn't evil.

Good call. And when you stick him in there go azz first (backwards) so he doesn’t see the jail he’s about to go in.

Naw...
Put the carrier on the counter, pick him up and put him in head first...
He has no where else to go but in.
Easy-peasy.
I have always picked them up by the scruff of the neck, and just lowered them into the carrier. They are not paralyzed, but don't resist till you let go. When you do let go of them, be ready for some action.

Good idea to let him get used to it. We always had an ordeal with getting Song into a carrier. And Tigg being all legs and wiry hasn’t been fun either — scar on my hip to prove that. He scrambled out of my arms and launched himself off of my side to get away.

Main lesson for both was to remain utterly calm. Next was to lure them if I could.

All else fails, set the carrier upright with the open end up. Drop in some treats to distract and get him wanting to go for them. Lean him in calmly and let him drop down in it. By the time he uprights himself, you’ve zipped the flap and he’s in.

Try this head-first luring method with the carrier on the floor like in your picture first. Up-ending it is a last resort. Gets gravity involved to help you.

Good one! Being brought up to the counter makes it fun and interesting for Scruffy! Head first always works best in my experience.

Six of one, half dozen of another.

Not really — because the enemy of the process is their hind legs. Strong and ready for jumping!

This is good! But both mine were lightning fast once their hind legs got going. I’m not quick enough for this method.

All of this discussion leaves me highly satisfied with our decision to have two dogs. One is a highly compliant Lab Retriever, Duce - the dog, the legend. And one is a highly intelligent beagle, known far and wide as the Sheriff and she is a very good dog - for an intelligent beagle.

The fetcher and the sniffer. Good title for a movie, no?

Hired local guy to do my driveshaft. He said $650 possibly less. More than I want to spend for that job but I caved. I could get the parts for $120 but I'm too old for this crap. The bearing and the three u-joints should be taken off and replaced with a press though it can be done without. I don't have a press so I'd have to wack the living hell out of them with a hammer. Them kinda days are past me. So I'm gonna suck it up and have the local guy do it.

Hubs used to be a mechanic so I've seen such jobs done many times. I hope the cost comes out to be at least a little less.
