Latest irritating thing Apple has done: They did not include a charger with their iPhone 12 that I just bought. Additionally, they went to a USB-C plug on the enclosed charging cable. So 1, you need to either buy a charger for $19 from Apple (or more affordably from a third party source), or 2, buy an adapter so your old chargers (if you have one) can accommodate the new USB-C style port on your charging cable.

That's bad enough. But the more irritating thing about this is Apple says (on their advertising) that they did not include a charger in the iPhone 12's because they are being environmentally responsible. One, less chargers in the world, two, smaller packaging. Bull feathers!! Now you have to go out and buy another charger (or adapter) because you need the USB-C type. Also, that will have its own packaging plus any packaging used to ship the product. You are actually generating MORE packaging by not including a charger with the iPhone.

So the obvious question is, why did they REALLY stop putting chargers with their new iPhones? The answer is equally obvious. $$!

But before you swear off Apple, the rest of the phone makers have followed suit and are doing the same thing.

But (again) the saddest part of all this? The average person believes their environmental wokecrap. They soak you for more money while coming out looking like the good guy.

Many people have USB-C ports on their laptops. You’re supposed to use that or buy a laptop that has it. Or buy a wireless charging pad that you just set the phone on to charge it.

They have done this repeatedly with cables. And no more wired headphone jacks. Go wireless! It might cause brain cancer but the environment must be saved.

Apple decided when to retire CD/DVD drives and Ethernet ports in laptops. They reduced hard drive capacity to move us all to the cloud. They are in charge. Just take your medicine and shaddup, will ya?!?

The cloud - all of your data or your business records in the possession of an amorphous mass of electrical stuff and people you know nothing about. Office 365, your productive software where you can get it so long as everyone's server is working and you haven't offended anyone by speaking favorably of DJT. Apple will scan your data to see if you are a child molester.
Could they ban me from my data if I have a client who is a child molester and I prepare court documents of some specificity with salacious detail? Will they disclose it to the FBI? What about my client's attorney-client privilege? Where are my electronic medical records stored? On Amazon's cloud? Who knows?
I want my word processing and spreadsheets created, stored and backed up local. I want my document producing software on my machine, for my use when I want without reliance upon electrical connectivity and the competence of some tech screwball that I will never meet.

The cloud may be fine for some, but as for me, give local or give me death with all deference to Patrick Henry.

Recent story about Apple. They are creating some kind of ability to detect child pornography to be used to bust pedophiles. I don't know anyone who has sympathy for a pedophile but it does beg the question...what else are they up to? Seems kind of odd when it wasn't that long ago they refused to let the FBI look at phone records of a mass killer. Big tech companies playing referee. What could possibly go wrong?

If they are capable and willing to detect one objectionable behavior, why not others? They get to define objectionable. Sound like Twitter and Face Book to me. It will be a somewhat short time until I am a Linux user, avoiding the screwballs in the Pacific Northwest and Cupertino CA - to the degree possible.

If you do go that route , it's best to remember that Ubuntu is corporate and they haven't always acted in the user's best interest . At one point they had web searches tied in to Amazon so suggested purchases would show up from a search . They had to remove it due to flak but never acknowledged wrongdoing . If you are set on an Ubuntu base it's best to go with Linux Mint , Clem , their head dev removes a lotta crap from the base before it sees use in Mint . Probably best to go straight to the parent distro that Ubuntu and Mint are forked from , Debian ,MX Linux – Midweight Simple Stable Desktop OS , Mxlinux is fast and rock solid with a Debian base . My Manjaro installation remains trouble free even though I run on the testing branch instead of Stable these days , testing is for catching problems before it hit's Stable but there's been nothing to catch . The Arch base Manjaro uses isn't for everyone though , not a set and forget distro , it rewards common sense with performance .

Swapped my cable box today. The display on the old one was wigging out. Now with the new box I’.m missing half my channels.

When it comes to technology, nothing ever goes right.
That's why we'll need 35 more jabs before Bill gets it half-azzed right we can take the damn masks off.

Center support bearing on the driveshaft going bad. If you change that out you may as well change all the u-joints too while the driveshaft is out. I’m too old for this crap. Gonna see what the local guy wants. If he can keep it to about $400 or less I’ll let him do it. Otherwise I’ll do it. Don’t want to. Heavy driveshaft, gotta lay on cement floor. Up and down. Hammer crap. On and on. Just not in the mood for it.

I will think of you under your beloved Dodge (probably one of the brothers originals) pounding away. Wait until Fall.

Good Afternoon Everyone. Welcome to the Misinformation Age, @Bronze. Buy a charging pad.
Still hot, still bored. Trying to do hedge work/ remove saplings from front of house beds. Doing maybe 15 minutes, then 30 minutes or so inside. Add an old man nap, and the afternoon is complete.

Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

That was another thing. It’s in the 90s with equal humidity. No desire to sweat my bits off. Has to be done now. Driveshaft fails = Dangerous.

Pizza encore tonight. I always make enough dough for 4 pies, but they’re so loaded that we can only eat 2.

There’s a local award winning pizzeria (786 Degrees) that charges $19 each for a pizza with these toppings. Theirs is wood-fire, but these homemade are pretty darn close in flavor and crust quality. I make 4 of them for less than $20. That makes them taste even better.
