I think a root canal is mandatory with an implant, no?
I guess it does since they remove the root. And replace it with a screw. But if your going to remove the root you may as well replace the whole tooth..
A crowned tooth doesn't always need a root canal.
A root canal removes the nerve from the tooth, not the root.
An implant replaces a lost or extracted tooth. It has a titanium screw that is placed in the bone, then a crown is permanently attached to the implant.
Implants can also be set to retain a full denture. My mom has this on the lower. It isn't removable by her, and she still comes in to let me clean it regularly.
