Forgive me if I haven't been around awhile. Getting old isn't for the weak....
This past May I developed a middle ear condition known as Ménière's disease. Nasty stuff that messes with your Vertigo. Light head and dizzy spells are not fun. Nausea and loss of balance are less fun. At it's worst, my world can suddenly turn sideways ( didn't drive myself for most of th summer). And then the absolute worst is horrible. Remember when you were in High School or College and drank too much ? The vomiting, room spinning, feeling horrible, lying on the floor next to the toilet wishing it would stop ? Try that without the alcohol or euphoria.
About the time I got that under control (there is no cure), Mamaw's eight month fight with Stage 4 Lung Cancer took a turn for the worst. We lost her on October 17th. And the family reacted poorly, so I responded badly. Lawyers were involved. Doubtful I'll be on any Christmas lists this year, but my home is still mine.
38 years is a long time. My radio attacks me about every twenty minutes or so, and I catch myself still talking to her. But, Hey. I cooked my own Turkey for Thanksgiving ! Being in recovery for thirty years means I have friends, and a few of the Ladies in the Meetings guided through it.
Anyways. I only visit the ECF maybe once month anymore. .This time I found an old PM ( I guess they're called conversations now) about selling tobacco extracts, which I obviously cannot legally do. So I thought I'd post in the tobacco Extraction sub-forum, and come say hello to some old friends.
Hello.

Hello.
Oh, Brett… I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sorry too for the family fallout. I know too well how bad behavior among family can make a devastating loss even worse. I sometimes wonder whether “family as a support system” is just a myth. Anyway, I do hope you continue to heal every day.

In my early 30’s I had my first attack of Meniere’s Disease. Dietary changes, Vit B6 (diuretic) and better stress management helped. Mine is in remission. But you are right about how nasty the episodes are. I still get mild ones now and then and I have the hearing loss that goes with it.

Hang in there. I figured when you didn’t stop by here that things were rough for you. Thanks for letting us know. Sending hugs and prayers for you.

Evening... Went to Family Christmas get together today. It was fun. Sister and BIL weren't able to go. They got Covid last week. They didn't get it bad and are getting better but it's only been a week.

Hey Pop. Agree with Lori. Knew things were not good with you. To say you’ve had a bad year would be an understatement. There really isn’t much anyone can say to help the healing process go faster. Only time can do that. And at a time when it’s hard to keep your chin up. If it helps, we know it sucks. Just knowing others have, are, or will occupy your current space should give you a sense that you’re not alone. You’re certainly being tested. For now, let’s hang on to the hope that family comes to their senses.

You’re always welcome here. You know that.

Wow. I’m glad you are okay. I didn’t know you lived there. Good that you have power. I was just reading that it’ll be a low of 26 tonight and many thousands still don’t have power and won’t for days.
28 right now, going to 25 tonight. We were fortunate that power was only off for a minute. I feel for those without power or a home and for the 6 people who died. Hope I can get the tire fixed tomorrow. No surprise with all the debris in the road that it punctured a tire when my dd tried to get back home.

Ooooff! Round 10 is the in depth bad one. Glad it’s the last one for ya. (Hopefully)
Yep. The first round and the last round. If I had shown you a picture of me at the top of my 32’ ladder stuffed in the peak of my roof your $@;! would pucker up. Mine did. :)
