I’m not trying to be a wiseguy but Forrest Gump ran to the Pacific. When he got there, he ran back to the Atlantic. Then he turned around and did it again. I guess the point is the cure is time or as the saying goes, “time heals”. Or miles heals. Or experiences heals. Or tears heals. Or anger heals. Time, distance ,events, emotional journeys. It never completely cures. Never can. How much depends on how much you allow it to and what works best for you. You’ll know you’re getting there when you can see him smiling and laughing again. Then he’ll pay you a visit and say, “What took you so long”. :)
Absolutely! Thanks Bronze : - )

So what's everyone using/imbibing since the vapocalypse. I fell off the wagon and started smoking again (nearly managed to give that up and was down to 2 a day for a while) but am trying to climb back on again.
I quit vaping around Nov 2022. Been sorely tempted to smoke! Instead I got a little metal tube meant to aid in mindful breathing. I hold it like a cig and draw a deep inhale through the tube. It helps satisfy that aspect for me. Probably looks weird as heck but I don’t care. :)

My sister in England used a "sort of vaping thingie" back in the day and people laughed so much because the darn thing looked like a tampax without the tube. LOL

I vape Liu Tang (Blue raspberry, apple, and dragon fruit) and Morley Red (tobacco) from Red Star Vapor( 3mg each). Sometimes I weaken/mix with unflavored/no nicotine to save money.
I have a location quarter mile from home so works well for me. I don't know if they can ship with changes to laws so you'd have to see if any location near you.
I have nicotine in freezer if I need more nic content but haven't needed any yet. I get unflavored VG or PG from Nicotine Liquid - Vegetable Glycerin - Flavorings -Wholesale and DIY Heartlandvapes Wholesale but they are out of stock right now. Been awhile since i bought any from there.
I’m way out of touch with regard to nic availability n pricing. Been awhile now since I stocked up.

Afternoon... We've had a light rain going on for three days now. It should move out tonight. Then we can start drying out. I have a lot of green leaves on the ground. I may need to get the blower out when things dry out. Other than that nothing to see here. Did a little cleaning and washing. Was going to get an air fryer at Walmart. But didn't feel like going. I have my 6 month check up in the morning so no work tomorrow. Maybe I'll stop at Walmart tomorrow.

I've been worried about @Bronze and any of the other folks that might have been in the area where all of the rain and hurricane weather has been. I hope all are OK and just waiting for internet to come back.
:nun::nun::nun:
We’re good here cats. Appreciate the concern. It rained hard and got pretty windy for a couple hours but then relaxed. We got nothing here in R-D compared to western NC and eastern TN. The little village next to Chimney Rock is gone. Been there. Nice quaint little town the tourists filled while visiting Chimney Rock. It disappeared. Asheville utterly demolished. That’s where Biltmore is. Not hearing any major damage to the house itself. But the entire NC Appalachians are trashed. This was a whopper.

It's good to hear you all didn't get washed away in the floods. I never expected to see so much damage and destruction so far from a hurricane landing spot.

It had to be bad for you to describe it as a whopper. Usually you shrug and call them just another ‘cane. I’m hoping @PapawBrett is okay too.

It happens. Wind is overrated. It’s the surge and flooding that cause the most damage. Normally it’s canes that come in from the coast that flood us. This cane came from the south and flooded the western part of the state. Unusual.

It really wasn’t bad at all. Heavy downpour with wind for a couple hours but that’s nothing compared to west of here. It is a whopper for them, not us.

The flooding was the part that worried me the most for you guys. I remember the 2013 rainstorm that hit the mountains above Boulder and Fort Collins in CO and caused all of the immediate damage, but then several days later, all the water hit the poor people in Fort Morgan and flooded them out too. I think there were even concerns about Nebraska as all the water tried to make its way to the Mississippi river.

Do the Appalachians work like our continental divide Rockies to direct the water flows? Is there a "safe side" in this storm, or will both east and west parts get flooded out because the rain went down the top of the divide?

I couldn’t tell you cats. There were parts of western NC that got a yard of rain. With that much coming down the results wont be good regardless of which side you’re on. Appalachia doesn’t usually see the damaging effects of a cane as much as the other half of the state. I’m sure they’ll be reeling from this for a long time.

More footage and reports coming in from western Carolina. Nearly every road is closed. I-40 is going to be closed for a long, long time. I've been in these areas a number of times. Beautiful area. Hearing about places that got leveled. Lake Lure (been there) is half filled with sediment and debris. That's a real deep lake. Banner Elk (been there) is basically gone. Chimney Rock (been there) is gone. My BFFs dad had a place next to the Pisgah Forest (been there) up on a mountain. The town he overlooked is creamed. Just massive damage all over the place. NC gets hammered a lot but it's usually along the coast and, at times, reaches us here in R-D too. But western NC doesn't see this kind of damage. They're screwed!

When you say a place is gone, are you saying the damage is so bad that they can’t clean up or rebuild at all? I know it wouldn’t ever be the same, just wondering what you think.

Gone as in it no longer exists. Every building gone. They haven’t even gotten to some of these places yet. Like Chimney Rock. Roads are buried in mud slides or just missing so no way in there. Reports bodies laying all over there.

Afternoon... So I've spent part of the day working my outside water tap. It leaks when it gets cold if I don't shut off the inside valve to it. Both valves are old so I'm replacing then. The inside valve ls hard to reach so I'm adding pipe to relocate it higher. Went to Lowes for parts. Yup I went to Lowes and get everything I needed. Nope.. The 24in copper pipe wasn't enough. Should have got the 36in one. Figures. :glare: So off to a different Lowes tomorrow for the pipe.. I have the inside valve on so I'm able to turn the water back on. I also plan getting new porch lights. Along with a new mailbox and house numbers. Nothing fancy.. More like $18 lights instead of $10 lights.:D
