So funny you mentioned the copy of Office! I just thought of that a couple days ago and wondered if you still used it.Say Lori @LAwaters, My 12 year old laptop is about kaput. I used it every day so I have no room to complain. I got another ASUS. Will be here Saturday. I'll need Excel, Word, and an email app. I see most (if not all) MS Office packages have Excel, Word, and Powerpoint but I see nothing for email. Educate me here. Where do I get email? Remember, It's been 12 years since I looked at any of this and I'm sure everything is changed. I'm still using that copy of Excel/Word/PP you gave me.
All Office packages include Outlook for email. It’s an app you can download, or you can use it within your web browser. I prefer the app and the version they call Classic. The New Outlook is problematic but it mostly works okay. I use it for its business features.
As an alternative, there’s Mozilla’s Thunderbird, which used to be free and maybe still is. I used it for years and loved it. It’s just the basics and it did them well. I need to go see whether it’s still around.
Edit: Yep it is. And still free. This article mentions some other email apps too. (Outlook for Windows comes installed on Windows PCs. I don’t use that version.)
