You are so right. We went through almost 2 gallons of water since last night. The pressure of that heat was intense.
We were very fortunate! Steve from Deke's AC came by. Honest, decent guy whose dad started the business. The main drain had overflowed a bit and triggered the secondary drain safety valve. $85 for a same day service call! So relieved.
It's exactly what I imagine hell to be like.

I grew up in high humidity, but this stuffy heat inside was bad. Still I'd pick dry heat over humidity. As long as there's AC to escape too.
Two words work better for me: cold shower.
