Some people claim their arm hurts from their covid shot. So I raised my arm a little and sure enough, it’s sore! These people are right. Then I raised my other arm and it’s sore too.

Then it’s not the shot. It’s all those fingertip pushups. Maybe only do 40 tomorrow, instead of 50.

My friend got the first in her non-dominant arm and had painful “dead-arm” for 3 days. Second was in her dominant arm and was barely sore. Someone told her it has to do with having more muscle mass in her dominant arm.

The first one probably had Bill's ID chip in it rubbing a nerve...

Morning...

Something outside last night made him get up on the washer to watch. There are critters around here..

For anyone concerned about the toxicity of non-stick pans, I just learned about GreenPan. I’ve ordered the 8” and 10” fry pans, and can’t wait to try them out.

The coating is not Teflon or any derivative of it. This set is metal utensil safe and oven safe to 600 degrees. Less fussy than cast iron to care for too.

They aren’t cheap, but I’m planning to take care of them well and have them for years.

For me, in my new role as Chef to Mrs CMD, I go for stainless and iron. We left the Teflon behind some time back, when she discovered it flaking off and I guess we swallowed the flakes. Some thing not quite right about seasoning with Teflon. Those are pricey little things, if the ceramic holds up those would be good.

I prefer SS and my cast iron too. I even tried to learn the technique for heating SS and then applying oil which chefs do for a non-stick effect. Haven’t quite mastered it but the one time I got it right was amazing.

Alas, my beloved All Clad SS 12” (which I found at a nicely discounted price) lives in our condo for now. My cast iron skillet isn’t quite seasoned enough yet to handle eggs.

Our friend prefers non-stick and we’ve been using it but it’s time to dispose of it. She’s not into cooking at all. We will use our GreenPans here while we stay with her. Then she can go back to her Teflon sets. Unless I manage to convert her!

I see a non-stick convert on the horizon.

Tramintina tri ply online at Wally World. Big steal for great pans.

Our friend has a large Tramontina stock pot that is great. I hadn’t heard of them before, but they seem every bit as good as All Clad.

She has a 12” All Clad skillet that someone who lived here before nearly destroyed. A lot of oil frying on highest heat with haphazard cleaning. It seems like it may have even been reused on high heat without cleaning at all in between.

We’ve done the best we could to restore it with Bar Keeper’s Friend and TKO. Brought it back to life, but it is battle-scarred. Hurts my heart to see a quality tool be abused like that. Take care of things and they will last and serve you well.

Every bit as good as All Clad. Been using mine at least 5 years ( has to be more) and they’re still like new. I take care of them.
