I've watched a few Beato videos. Interesting though he can go on and on about the minutia. I've heard many bass players consider Jaco as one of their most admired bassists. Rockers, jazzers, blues all of them. Metheny always attracted some of the best musicians. He wrote a song called Jaco too so he liked him. My understanding is Pastorius was a train wreck. All kinds of personal problems. Died young.

Yes he had substance abuse issues and got into a violent confrontation with a bouncer who didn’t know who he was. Jaco was born in a town about an hour from my hometown. That’s a town known for rampant drug problems.

But he was a genius musician.

Evening... I let Scruffy go out this morning while I got my works boots on. When I went out to call him the little jerk was gone. I looked and called for about 10 minutes or so. He wasn't coming and I had to go. So I figured he'd have to spend the day outside. I put out a bowl of water, came back in to top off his dry food so I could put it out. About that time he came running back in the house with a panicked look like he knew I was going to leave and he'd wouldn't be able to get back in..;)

But he looks so innocent! :D

Some of the best musicians come from the jazz world. That style attracts dedicated musicians. And they don’t have the pressure of trying to come up with hits. They can play whatever they like. Some of them play every waking hour. They have no life outside of music. Most are very introverted and have the personality of a potato skin.

Nothing like the star-making machinery to kill your creativity. I recently rewatched “That Thing You Do.” It’s sad to know how these things are done.

And I love potatoes! Let’s not insult them! :D

My experience is different. All of the jazz musicians I have known have great personalities but yes, they are very into music 24/7.

I’m thinking of guys like Thelonious Monk and the jazz artists of that time. Many were very odd.

"I was a free man in Paris
    I felt unfettered and alive
There was nobody calling me up for a favor,
And no one's future to decide.

You know I'd go back there tomorrow,
but for the work I've taken on:
    Stoking the starmaking machinery
    Behind the popular song."

We are kindred spirits! I wondered whether anyone would get the reference. I shall not underestimate you again. :)

Back when I played guitar, I loved doing Joni’s open tunings and playing songs like “People’s Parties,” “Woman of Heart and Mind” and others. Owner of a local coffeehouse paid me a compliment I still treasure when he said after an open mike night that not many could capture her phrasing, but he thought I did it well. I listened to her constantly back then, so it was etched in my brain!

I still have a recording of my 19 year old self singing and playing “A Case Of You” but that one was better on dulcimer the way she played it on Blue. I saw her perform at the Mann Music Center (an open-air theater) in Philly in 1983 and she played it on dulcimer. Most epic concert I ever attended!

still waiting on primers... Midlands has a new price but still out of stock, I checked up on the prices for brass and bullets for a 9mm bullet to be hand loaded now costs about 73 cents to make/reload... thats 73.00 $ per 100.
Last time I reloadedprice per bullet for 9mm was 23 cents or 23$ per 100.... can we say price gouging?? 50$ increase over all per 100. new bullets for 9mm 2 yrs ago were 28-34$/100...... reloading was 23$/100 and now 73$/100. And 9mm is a smallish bullet compared to the 460 magnum... IIRC the cost to reload/make 460s was 46$/100

so it looks like the goobermint is going to make shooting to expensive to do, I also heard that there is a new tax trying to be imposed on the chemicals used for bullets (powder/primers) hopefully its just bs and nothing else... The makers of the cases and primers and jacketed bullets are possibly looking at shortages in materials also...

The demand is thru the roof too.

Between us free citizens and the government buying up every round or supply that it can get its hands on, supply and demand seems a likely contributor. Fortunately, in 2008 I had a vision that came to me late one night, it said, "CMD, buy now." Primers were $15/1000 (today $75/1000), I don't recall the cost of all the other supplies. But it is all worth a LOT of money today. Yesterday's over supply will be tomorrow's bartering currency.
I check prices like any other investment account.

I had the moderna shots. Second one spaced me out pretty good. Some people say it gives them a nasty case of chills. Either way it comes on next moring and hangs around for 10 hours.

Don't know which one I had. Didn't pay any attention to it. I'll have to look at the card. Which is in the truck so I wouldn't forget it..;)

One of my neighbors got the same shots as me at the same time in the morning. Her appt was right after mine. Both of them. She was wrecked by 1 in the morning. Chills. Then napped the next day. I also napped (no, not with her). We both said, “And I never take naps”. Another neighbor told me him and his wife n son were down for the count the next day. Chills again. All of us got the moderna shots and always on the second shot. The good news is it lasts only 8-10 hours. Beats the hell out of getting covid, especially at our ages.
