The Skydrops arrived in South Africa! Outstanding upgrade and really good looking! Flavour has even improved which I didn't think was possible. An all around win apart from the fact I have to refill more often now.

Beautiful setup mate!

The improved flavour is to be expected. I've always said it that shorter atties are always better for flavour. That's why I preferred my Berserker more than the Skyline.

Same here. I don't use the nano but I carry around 2 regular Erlks in my pockets all day at work. So light and yet they hold 6ml of juice.

here you go. What a device!! The only thing is that the base and afc ring are the only thing left from the original v1. All I need is just the base/afc ring and i can build a complete v1 but they aren't available afaik?!?!

ps: flavour is definitely improved. I just straight swapped the tank, kept exctly the same build/wick etc and same juice so it's absolutely clear. Brilliant upgrade to what is probably the best RTA, all things considered, available atm!!

Such a beautiful RTA but at 10 times the price of 1 Berserker for example, it's getting harder and harder to justify.

I can definitely appreciate the craftsmanship but at that price I would expect some innovation. Even though I've stayed from Imeo's products lately, if I were to spend that much money, I would definitely go for the Eagle. He's built some very nice Plug n' Play sort of features. For example, removing the chamber with the juice, totally enclosed without any risk of leaking, exposing the deck so that you can clean/recoil/rewick.

Is it perhaps comparable to my short lived but fun pipe collecting days (not that I was an expert but I watched the masters).

There were pipes in the lower-end price range that were made very nice and could smoke extremely well. There were also works of art, perhaps made from the finest briar, etc., that were very hard to get but the smoke wasn't much different than the lower-end models (usually).

I saw the same types of discussions there. It seems similar here to me and most collectors I knew from those days had a bit of both in their collection, though some were strictly one side or the other.

But we all had PAD :)

I know what you mean there but to be fair, you can't really compare the berserker with the skyline. As good as the berserker is, and it is really good, the quality and design of the skyline is just something else. The new deck is pretty innovative actually and the taifun gt3 is the only other tank that i can think of that has as good a JFC.

The eagle looks pretty good but having access to the deck without emptying juice isn't anything new and eg hussar and many others have an enclosed tank/chamber - in fact the the squape-E is probably the best example of that atm. Changeable airholes also not really new etc etc. The springomiser deck has been around now for a couple of years (and isnt really very good imho due to the distance the coil ends up from the airhole although he has fixed that a bit on the eagle/armed) so, like almost every other device, it has it's =/-'s!! But back to the main point, I do agree that the market for these ultra high-end devices is probably shrinking now as the quality of chinese tanks improves!

For me, the Berserker is the only device, high-end or low-end, in the last 2 years to have the draw and flavor that makes my cut. Every other MTL tank that has come out has not cut it for me and I've gone back in time and collected some of the oldies instead.

Now, I've only used it so far with my DIY Dunhill tobacco but it has been comparable to my beloved KFL and Spheroid draw and flavor. That for me is a huge achievement.

I've got 2 22mm versions coming and will put through more paces/juices with a few more in rotation.

I agree that they're not comparable. More importantly, the success of these cheaper tanks is built on the work and innovations of GG, Kayfun, Taifun etc. It's funny because just before I got the Berserker, I was watching Phil review the Odysseus and it reminded me of my early days of rebuildables. Ceramic cups, joining NR-R wire with a zapper (or by wrapping it), silica wicks. We've come a long way from those early days.
