It took me about a month, just kept cutting back a little at a time. 37 years of smoking, 1 pad, started with 12 mg and cut back to 6 real fast, now i'm at 3mg. Go get yourself some 0 nic of the same flavor you have, if that's what you like, and cut it to bring down the nic. With Vanilla you can get almost any other flavor and just add the vanilla to it. Thats how I get 3mg, but a bottle of 6mg and one of 0mg, fill my tanks half and half. Stopped completely 7 weeks ago.

I think I bought 2-3 packs during my very first month of vaping. It was a little bit of a transition, but it went pretty quickly as I bought better gear and juice. I have been at it for almost 8 months now, started at 18mg and currently at 12mg just for the sake of working it down. However, for me getting to zero is not really a priority. I might do it one day, but will probably just settle in under 10mg and stay there at least for a while.

I quit smoking the day I began vaping. I've not had a cigarette since the time of taking that very first vape. My husband took longer to convert, he had a difficult time with learning how to draw/inhale and choked alot and gave up on it several times before he finally got the hang of it. Unfortunately, he still chews tobacco.

Personally I took me ~ 6 months to not want a cig.

And by that I mean, now when I smell cigarette smoke it kinda disgusts me; if someone offers me a cig or says "why don't you just smoke a REAL cigarette" I actually have a response:

Cigs are 'weak' (I usually use a word that starts with a P :censored:); No Flavor, No Throat Hit AND No Clouds. I actually prefer to vape. Then I take a huge drag and ask them If they want a hit as plumes of beautiful vapor comes poring out of my noise and mouth.. Usually carry around an extra drip tip for that reason and have blown peoples minds...

I work right next door to a smoke shop so I get a lot of interaction with smokers.

But I digress, In the first six months I "quite on day one", for about 2 weeks but when I started having issues with my CRAPPY V2 cigs kit I bout a pack and ordered a SI Volt kit. It was better, kinda, but I still smoked ~ 2-3 a day (which was a lot better than 20+). It went on like that for a while and I noticed as I actually learned about e cigs and upgraded my stuff to eliminate issues I was having (short battery life, crappy flavor, poor juice capacity, and my biggest pet peeve, unreliability) my smoking really dropped off.

I took a look at how much money I had spent on cheap crap from China and I started to really bug the hell out of me; yeah I was smoking less (4-5 cigs a week) but I kind of felt like a chump because I knew I was getting raked over the coals for these clearo-mizers this and replacement coils that, they all ultimately did not preform as advertised or burnt out in a matter a days. (I vape 7-10 mils per day)

So I figured if a China man can coil a wick so can I, and that is really when I started to love to vape. As soon as I got familiar with RBA's all the stress of hoping my head/coil/atty would last until my next order vanished. I no longer felt taken advantage of because I could see that my money was going into something that would last rather than a disposable product.

Don't get me wrong, e cigs do have huge learning curve; and to think that I should have just got genesis style as my first PV is insane. I needed to take baby steps and build up my understanding of whats out there and what works for me.

When I was a noob the way I controlled overspending is I took how much I had spent on a given set up, divided that by how much I was spending on cigs/per day and took that number and doubled it. I used the set up for that many days before I upgraded.

Cost of set up ($)/ cost of smoking ($ per day) = X days; then multiply by 2 (to account for juice and maybe save a tiny bit of cash vs smoking).

That equation went out the window a long time ago for me:D but it did help me to not overspend when I was new to e-cigs.

I know I haven't even touched on juice; that in and of it self is a huge topic. Taste is subjective, go to a brick and mortar and sample, sample, sample; and ask "what are YOUR all day vapes". And don't be afraid to step down your nic. I started at 24mg and now I can see it was prob too high. I vape 12mg now and 6 at night.

Right now I'm vaping Khlorine by Vapetrik (RiP Tripper), ehh it's pretty damn good. But my all time favorite to date is hands down Cran Ch'i by Halcyon. The reason I talked so much about devices or PV's is Cran Ch'i is a light flavor and taste like garbage with silica wick heads. In fact, personally, I wasn't really happy with any juice until I got into a genesis. I'm vaping FC-2000 ceramic wicks and stainless in some of my back ups.

Trust and believe, vaping is a crazy crazy ride; and it has its ups and downs. It is far more involved than rolling leaves in paper lighting it fire and breathing it in.

Man was not meant to breath fire nor vapor.

But it's up to you to decide which is the lesser of two evils...

I think it so varies from individual to individual. My brother has been vaping for a few months, and he's still smoking (less than half a pack daily). He wants to stop, but for whatever reason hasn't yet. My last cigarette was at 4:00 pm May 2, while I was setting up the Spinner. We are/were both heavy smokers, and are both vaping 18 nicotine. It's just different for each of us.

It's the same with my husband. He almost lost a lung when he tried it. I TOLD him to hold it in his mouth and not inhale and draw it into his lungs as if smoking a cigarette. Like he's gonna listen to me.

So I just wanted to know how long it took you guys to quit when you got the ecig was it a matter of days? Weeks? Months?

Thanks!

Literally years. I bought my 1st e-cig in 2004. Yes 2004. That is not a typo. lol I got one from the original manufacturer in China: Runyan. I saw a small article on a blog about technology and knew I wanted to try one. It was, well, not horrible and I could see the potential but they weren't quite ready for prime time so I revisited e-cigs every couple of years to see if they had "arrived" yet.

A few months ago I had jury duty. No smoking anywhere in or around the court house. Arrrgh! But they had on the impulse buy rack by the register in the cafeteria one little disposable e-cig (last one left) and I needed a cig fix so much I bought it. Not too bad for a disposable. Then later that month at an eight week fair my husband plays in, a bunch of people were vaping away backstage and someone let me try theirs (it was a vv/vw model) and I knew they had "arrived". Did some research online and found a B&M near me and did not pass go or collect $200.- but went directly to their location and got an eVic - I already knew that a little eGo wouldn't cut it for me full time. I only had 2 cigarettes for the rest of the day. It only took 5 days at 2 to 3 a day to have my last nail... erm analog cigarette!

You're welcome! ;)

Just hang in there dude. Some people quit instantly, some people take a while to transition. I've had one open pack for 1.5 weeks that I only smoked 2 from when I got my vape... I put it in my car with a lighter to give to the homeless guy I see some days on my way home from work. It's not the healthiest gesture but I won't begrudge a man a small pleasure when he has nothing else.

Oh, I'd say it took me about 35 years or so to quit smoking and start vaping........lol!!
Just kidding, partially.
Frankly, I picked up a blu-cigs starter kit on a whim, just to give the lungs a little break, fired them up over the next 2 days, and LO AND BEHOLD, I liked the flavor and found that I had absolutely no cravings at all for 'regular' cigarettes. ( I was FLOORED!)

Logically, if I can get the nicotine fix and an experience that satisfies any urge I might have for regular cigarettes (and the 4000+ chemicals that you get with regular cigarettes), then vaping is a no-brainer. The learning curve is short if you just stick with it over any initial 'rough spots'. Many here from what I have read have had very little trouble switching (like myself----I am amazed how damn EASY it was. If it was difficult, I'd still be smoking.). Some have had more difficulty than others, it seems, but the numbers of people having success appears to be huge!

Simply put, I found out I get everything a regular cig gave me plus a whole lot more flavor, in a much healthier way. (I actually had to think about it for about 5 whole seconds. And without a shadow of a doubt, I was not expecting in ANY WAY to quit the analogs when I did. I was just trying out the new ecigs.) Searching for the flavors is a big part of the fun and the thrill for me, because I can actually taste flavors vividly now. Plus, all the toys for vaping that are available, with new ones coming daily, are WAY cooler than smoking regular ciggies, afaic. I'm really still amazed at the whole thing, and the whole world of vapers that exists out there......unbelievable!! Hope this helps you a bit.
Good luck.....
