Having a battery die on you while far away from a charger or a spare is a scary situation to be in. Two batteries and an extra full tank about your person are key. I find that the Evod tanks doesn't leak at all and I always have a full one in my backpack or pocket, even a few bottles of liquid at times. It takes a while to get into the groove, but once there you won't be put into a situation where an analog seems like a good idea.

As I typed this I picked up my Evod to discover it's covered in juice  First Evod leak ever!

Got my Halo Triton in the mail almost 130 days ago. Haven't smoked (or even craved) an analog since that day.

Previous failures include the Blu rechargable, Chantix, and Nicorette gum.

Added an iTaste vv, a Provari mini, and a variety of shiny metal and glass tanks in recent weeks. I'm ecstatic.

Hardware is critical. If your unit is not dependable or powerful enough, fuhgeddaboudit.

Software is critical. If you're not vaping a flavor you love, fuhgeddaboudit.

The combination of hardware and software is critical. The two things must work together, to produce something you enjoy BETTER than smoking an analog. "Almost as good" won't cut it, because you're then in a position of "giving something up". And you'll always crave what you used to have.

Considering how many options for hardware and software, it's actually surprising that vaping has worked for so many of us. I've steered many newbies to the Halo Triton, because I think it hits a sweet spot in quality vs. price. Even though I'm rocking a Provari, I still use my Tritons. The last thing a newbie needs is frustration, and I think Halo got it right in that respect.

I had started with a cigarette like device 3 years ago. It did not put out enough for me to quit the analogs. Was goofy about going back and forth for 6 months before breaking down and ordering an ego starter kit. Was night and day! Got off analogs same day! That was 2 and 1\2 years ago.

I had been smoking almost 15 years at that point. Huge health improvement since then! The smell of analogs gross me out now. Can not believe I reeked like that for half my life! Not to mention how much money I save per month. I smoked a pack to 2 a day. Although now I am moving up from the spinner to a mod. So hard to choose a mod between options, opinions and prices!

I kinda quit before I started vaping. My new year's resolution was to quit (again - I started and stopped a couple times last year, after almost 2 years smoke free), and I had a couple stress cigs within the first week of the year, but since I got my vaping setup I haven't touched a real cigarette (though people keep "kindly" offering :/ ). Honestly, I barely use nic, but the hand-to-mouth action helps SO much when it comes to stress and in social situations where everyone has lit up.

I had 2-3 cigs a day for the first three days of opening my new VTR. All of a sudden I realized that cigs taste like crap and vaping cinnamon roll tastes awesome. Now I have no desire to smoke a cig and cant say that I went through any nicotine withdrawal. I am still vaping 24mg nic though but have been smoke free for like 10 days.

I dropped from a 1.25 pack a day habit to about a pack a month during the first 3 months. Last 3 months I haven't a cig at all. Eventually you'll want to not have them around. The hardest part for me was telling myself to not go to gas station and pick up a pack. If I did it was around and I would have one from time to time.

Starting out...don't beat yourself up about it. I had one in the morning, one in the evening, and one on a car ride. There is a lot more in a cig than just nicotine that you are addicted to...which is why some recommend WTA (Whole Tobacco altilodes?) liquid to people who really struggle with switching. I didn't need it myself but they way I understand it is that there about 40 or so other addictive chemicals in tobacco besides nicotine. The WTA liquids have some of those extra chemicals to help ween yourself off and get to just a nicotine liquid.

I feel like I'm repeating myself a lot...especially in the new members forum...but you guys haven't heard this before so ECF members that have heard before please ignore. I started out looking for a tobacco flavor that was similar to a Camel Light. i.e. I wanted my vape to taste just like my cig. Several months down the road I had what I describe as the epiphany vaping moment. I forget if it was a caramel/vanilla or a strawberry shortcake flavor...but that's the moment your brain say's to you "this isn't half bad...you know what...I really like this...this doesn't have to taste like my Camel Light for it to work for me"

At least for me that was my epiphany moment that I knew for sure this was going to work for me and I didn't need my Camel Lights any more. You might find that moment in weeks or maybe even months. I think I was about 2 months in before that really "hit" me.

I've been pushing this thread past few days so I'll plug it once again ;) http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...cussion/458263-3ml-cheap-sampler-bottles.html

Don't be afraid to try out different flavors that you think you may not like. First few months I thought I was after a tobacco, RY4, etc blend. Now tobacco flavors I'm just not into...I enjoy watermelon, grasshopper, redbull, caramel, vanilla, coffe/mocha type flavors. This doesn't have to taste like your cig in order for it to work and to me that was the leap that made this truly start working for me. If I was still trying to find something that tasted like my Camel Lights I might still be using a real cig from time to time...but I eventually figured out that this doesn't have to be the case...at least for me.

I bought an eGo and a Kanger EVOD with the money I was going to buy a carton of cigs with. My wife went with me and we asked a thousand questions. I went home with my purchase (and a bottle of spearmint juice 24mg), filled the tank and took off. I had three smokes in a pack and it took three day to choke them down. I really mean choke them down! It has been over two months now and I don't find the smell appealing nor nice to be around. For some reason they just stink! I agree that if you're really ready to quit and the mind is going in that direction, the a.. will follow! The only regret I have today is that I didn't find this years earlier. I have even reformed a co-worker into vaping. He tried to quit on New Year's Day and by the 2nd he was ready to strangle anyone that walked into his office. Didn't make it til 10:00. He came to me the next week and I took him to the shop I go to regularly. He bought a starter kit, some juice and some extra coils. He hasn't smoked since. I know because we speak every day and I can smell a cig from 200 yards now. He is doing great and now has the equipment bug! Like most of us here. Welcome and VAPE ON, MY FRIEND!

Tryin to tell smokers that what they really want is a good flavor other than tobacco is like tellin your kid to learn from your mistakes. Ain't gonna happen:) That's why I'm tryin to find a diy tobacco that I can get my friends to try. My mixes are turnin out so bad that I've been adding Kahlua, banana, or coffee flavor to mask the perfume taste. Now I'm getting hooked on Kahlua, Banana, and coffee!

In all honesty I wasn't trying to tell a smoker that he needs to use other flavors to quit smoking and to become a 100% ecig user...I was just trying to explain my experience and what worked for me. The OP may find a tobacco flavor that he really likes and works for him. Great either way...I don't have any stakes in the game...in the long run what ever it is that you find that works for you is best for you. I was just trying to help someone out that maybe came from the same mindset as me and eventually found out I was looking at it all wrong...well not wrong but differently...hopefully you get my point.

Rolled my own for the last 25 years, and 3 weeks into vaping I quit tobacco. That was about 7 weeks ago, and I've not been tempted to smoke since. On the other hand, I'm now trying not to vape so much! It's too easy to sneak a vape here and there! I also didn't save the money I thought I would, because from a twist and a protank to a kayfun and a kayfun mini and a various mods, and tons of different juices, I've spent a fair amount. I'm hoping now that I've found good working setups and good juices, I can lower my spending....

I get your point and that's what I'm sayin. Most people I've talked to want or wanted to replace their cigarette flavor with their vape. But like you many find they don't even like or need to do that after vaping for awhile. But they will try anyway:)

Bikenstein- I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. 40+ years menthol smoker, quit when I took my first pull at the e-shop...Haven't lit one up since. It's only been a week, but that was one more week than I ever thought possible at this stage of the game. I also thought I wanted tobacco flavor, but after trying some flavors at the shop, I walked out with 4 bottles and none of them were tobacco flavored. Surprised the living daylights out of me on that one.

I use and iTaste VV, and hit that thing like a 10 year old with a new drum set. Not a single problem with it so far, and battery life is more than enough for a day. Honestly, if stuff like this VV had been around the last time when I tried to quit (about 4 years ago) using those cigalikes , I would be that much further down the road now.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for helping spread the word.

Yes and I was in that some boat for about two months...trying to find my Camel Light flavor...until I had my "epiphany" moment ;)

It took me almost exactly two years. I bought my first cig-a-like in December of 2011 and through trial, error and giving up for sometimes months at a time, I found what works for me. On December 12, 2013 I smoked the last cigarette I had and started vaping exclusively. I did slip up on days 5 and 16 but didn't let that worry me too much since up until that point I hadn't lasted 5 days straight, much less 16. I probably would have never tried the Kanger line if I hadn't read about it here so this site had a lot to do with my (and I'm sure a lot of others') success.
