It took me quite a while at first. Reason being vaping too much inside and then feeling like I still needed to go outside and have a smoke. Once I started cutting back on the inside all-the-time vaping and waited till my need for an "outside smoke" to go out and vape, it felt more like an authentic cigarette break. After that it was smooth sailing, although now that I'm vaping full time, I've gotten used to not having to go outside like I used to with analogs.

By the second day of vaping I was DONE with analogs.

Now, I had been a PPD smoker for 25 years and was starting to feel the affects on my sinues and lungs - sinus/upper respitory invections at least twice a year and bronchittis at least once a year. So feeling my sinues just loving the vapor and being cleared out by the second day was something I'd not felt in a long time.

I didn't have enough juice/cartos to get thru the initial weekend so had to nurse 4-5 analogs until my first batch arrived and that was hell.

Haven't looked back or missed them in the least.

Same day for me, I had 1 Winston Ultra Light left in the pack and that now resides in my freezer as an absolute emergency nicotine fix :p

I've found it really hard after a large meal, oh boy you crave that sensation of smoking when you feel full, I just vape until the craving subsides, that's all I do really if I crave a traditional smoke...vape until it passes.

I found myself feeling ill on different flavors and strengths of nicotine. My go to flavor is Thin mint cookie 12mg from Freedom Smoke USA, It's a bit like a very mild menthol. Yet if I chain vape their cherry coke 12mg flavor I feel ill, same with the 6mg Orange slice flavor. It'll take some time to find a flavor and nicotine level that fits you best, once you do you'll be free of analogs forever :)

Two smokers in the house, and it took a weekend to no longer want an analog.

The craving was gone immediately, but the habit of sitting out back, relaxing and talking to each other over a ciggie took a little time to break. Now we sit inside and vape!

Best of luck, although I don't think you will need much, just a few good hits from the PV, and you will dislike what you thought you liked about cancer sticks.

Honestly for me, its hard. I smoked for four years, not too much but its a bad habit I wanted to kick. Been on PV's for four months and recently managed to get to one a day, unlike most here who say analogues taste like ...... I find the occasional actual cigarette tastes good, one smoke a day and Im set. Something about the flavor I cant get over.. I dont vape tobaccy flavored E-juice so the occasional Pall Mall is good. But heck, one a day isnt bad!

i quit on puff #1. i had to vape a little more when i felt the cig urge and that took care of that. although the first day i quit was the day i had to put my 12 yr old golden retriever down, i chained about 7 cigs to ease myself. i still have urges every now and then to smoke, but i just vape a little extra. i think the wanting a cig is the nicotine. quit on 08-21-10.

For me, it was 20 days from when I first started vaping. During that time, I reduced my smoking dramatically, and I also switched to menthols (which I never smoked before) because I couldn't stand plain cigarettes anymore.

I needed to adjust my nic strength up higher in order to not have cravings. After going up to a combo vaping either 36mg and 24 mg, I was able to quit completely. Now, I have been cig-free for 40 days, and I am just vaping 24 mg, and thinking about going down to 18 mg., as I am starting to feel sick to my stomach sometimes, and I think that must be a reaction to the nic. (I vape a lot, by the way. ;) )

The thing that helped me the most with switching from smoking to vaping was the advice to focus on the number of cigs NOT smoked. Eventually, my desire to be free from the evil BT, proper level of nic for me, the fact that I enjoyed vaping more than smoking allowed me to not buy more cigs when I ran out.

Free at last!!! It is wonderful!:banana::banana:

My real cigarettes, which I'm still smoking a few of are American Spirit Regular Organic. For me finding the right juice strength and flavor is taking some time because the AS Organics are, in my opinion, the perfect real cigarette, mild flavor, smooth to throat, no unpleasant lingering aftertaste, and a good amount of nicotine. I'm was a 3 a day pack smoker of the AS Organics. I can't do that with any other real cigarette I've ever tried.

I've been vaping for about a week. I ordered a direct-e-cig kit and kept it but sent DH's back. I went a couple of days milking the kit cartridges and smoking real cigs until my Awesonvapor ego came in. After that only a few real cigs, here and there. DH didn't like the direct kit but when he tried my spare ego he had me order an 801 kit for him (he doesn't like the manual button on the ego). We're waiting for it to come in in a day or so.

In the meantime I've used the direct-e-cig when my ego is charging. The ego batteries do last a long time but we keep sporadic hours. One of us might wake up during night time sleep to spend a couple of hours on computer, while the ego battery is charging.

I ordered a sample pack of tobacco flavors. Some of them I really don't like. Right now I just smoked a real cigarette for a break from some of the sample pack flavors I don't like.

I'm also wanting a couple of real cigarettes in the a.m. with strong wake-up coffee.

I must say that the real cigarettes I smoke are probably slowing down my giving them up completely. I've been smoking American Spirit Organic Regulars for over a year now (40 year smoking habit). Before that I was smoking regular .... The only real cigarette I've been able to smoke for over a year now without developing a throat irritation and some lung congestion has been the AS Organics. They are so smooth, without lingering taste, but lots of nicotine, they are a welcome break from the heavier vape flavors I'm trying.

I've ordered two more sample packs from AwesomVapor, fruit and dessert, which should be in in a couple of days.

As soon as I find the right juice for vaping I feel pretty sure I will drop the real cigarettes forever.

Kudos to the people who quit "right when I got my PV." I didn't work like that for me. It took me a little over a month. Then at then end of July, I had a 6 analog breakdown when my wife left me. But I haven't touched another since July 31st. Whatever you do, don't get discouraged if it takes you a little while longer to kick the analogs (or analogues if you're from U.K. or down under.) Some of us have a harder time than others. Even those who still smoke deserve a big high-five for drastically reducing their analog use. Way to go EVERYONE! :toast:

My wife has been vaping for 2 weeks and still smokes cigs in between. I have been doing the ordering and research to get her to quit smoking. Problem we are currently trying to solve is conventional wisdom would tell you if you smoke Marb lights, low nic would be best suited for you. Not for her...My last purchase was for 18 mg and I think thats right for her. She has only been vaping 18 mg for one day but her reg cig consumption has gone down. Hopefully in the next week or 2 she will be done completely. Moral of the story is some tinkering needs to be done and there is no 1 size fits all.
