I had a friend write me a cookbook on what worked for him and the spares he recomended to keep me going for at least 6 months. I spent right around $200 but got the following array of equipment for that investment:

(2) Totally Wicked Screwdriver MKIIs w/ 510 conversions
(10) TW 901 to 510 conversion atomizer kits
(10) TW IMR18350 Batterys
(30) TW 510 cartridges
(2) TW battery chargers
(2) TW drip tips
(2) Screwdriver lanyard kits
(5) TW 5ml e-liquid samples tobacco, fruit flavors and dessert flavors

Thankfully Totally Wicked was doing a Yo-Yo discount in December and most of the hardware was 25% - 40% discounted or it would have been more like $300+.
I was a 1-2 pack a day smoker for 35 years and am now 60 days free of the analogs so money well spent. Brew

Trying to add it all up... seems around what most of you guys have spent though.

$55 - 2 of the 7-11 xhale o2 kits and a pack of refill cartridges (before I found you guys)
$55 - MadVapes DIY parts, juice, clearomizers, ect.
$73 - Random KR808D-1 kits/batteries from different places
$35 - Juice and DIY juicemaking supplies from walk-in stores

And who knows how much on carrying cases, wood, brass tubing, random parts. But I am definitely "started", lol.

Glad I found this fourm before I jumped into vaping with both Feet! After reading reviews and comments I chose a Janty eGo XL kit that came w/2 900 Mah batteries and some carts, tips, charger and e-juice. added a couple extra juices and dropped about $125.00. Started vaping as soon as I figured out how to put it togeather. ( thanks to the Videos, didn't have a clue). Quit smoking analogs with-in 5-6 days and had a hard time finishing the last pack of Marlboros, They tasted like CRAP. Thanks ECF !!

I got about $270 invested.
About 50 cartamizers of different flavors so I could experiment and I didn't want to run out! I'm on a mission!
USB adapter for vaping on the computicator!
6 batteries ( I wanted plenty in case one or two fail)
Nice carry case for a few carts and a couple batteries.
Nice box to store my carts.
Two wall plug and USB chargers. Needed two of each in case one fails. You can't have enough redundancy on trips like this!

Well I spent 103 so far. I ordered two ego kits for 59.00. The rest in e-juice. Now I have to figure out what battery to get, and those cart thing-e or what ever they are called. I am too darn new to vaporing lol. Please be patient with me. :O)

You picked up a very good, very adaptable PV that with a few additions can allow you to try almost every style of vaping out there. With some of the tank mods, you can even bottom feed so no worries. If it makes you feel any better I just spent double that amount in 100mg no flavor e-liquid for mixing my own. ;)

Mmmm...$80 on the starter kit including shipping (No.7 Micro...bought before I found this forum, but it's actually working out well for me), $20 on some e-juice. So $100. Not having to go outside into the hail to get my fix? Priceless.

heeheeee -- so so true :) And not having to worry "do I have enough cigarettes, do I have to pick up a pack today, tomorrow morning? -- my DH is so happy he doesn't get that "Hun, could you pick me up a pack of cigs" call!

I probably spent close to $1000.

First kit was Blu. $70 -- it was crap, but it was what got me interested in e-cigs and started researching. I later returned the kit.
Then I ordered a V2 ultimate kit and Greensmoke kit. Love the V2, returned the Greensmoke kit -- it tasted kind of like a fog machine, and was absolutely not worth the higher price.
I also ordered a White Cloud Cirrus II kit. Now that thing is ridiculously overpriced at $249 for two batteries, a charger, and 5 cartomizers!! I knew it, but I figured I'd try it to see what that extra money buys. They're quite different from other e-cigs -- I do like their batteries, shorty size, LiPo, exceptionally smooth draw, and a very bright orange led. I ended up keeping them, but no way would I recommend them to anyone else -- they ARE a bit better than other batteries, but not enough to justify the price.
I've also bought close to 500 cartomizers from V2, V4L, Bloog and White Cloud.

Yes, I know juices would be cheaper, but it's messy, time consuming, and time is my most scarce commodity.

So far, Bloog cartomizers are the most consistent for me, and I really like the Red and Kamel flavours -- haven't tried any others yet, but I plan to. V2 are hit and miss due to them trying using different cartomizers for different flavours -- hard-cap ones are all excellent, soft-cap ones are worse than V4L and mostly do not work very well. I love V4L for all the flavours, but they're not very high quality.

Blu wasn't enough to make me quit tobacco cigarettes (I will not call them analog, because electronic cigarettes are in fact the analog to smoking), but once I got my V2 kit, I quit cold turkey. Two weeks later I had five puffs of a virginia slims and threw it out -- it was so smoky and nasty tasting!

However you put it, $1000 is still less than a new pair of lungs -- guaranteed!
