I smoked for 35 years, 2-3 PAD Winston habit for most of it. Toward the end, I was rolling my own from some very good bulk tobacco but taxes had boosted the price from $15 to $40 a pound. It ...... me off so much that I got a 510 kit just to cut down. I didn't really have much confidence that I'd quit entirely, and I wasn't sure I even wanted to. I had tried so many times before.
So on May 27, 2010 at 3 in the afternoon, I brought my first kit, a Joye 510 from Cignot in from the mailbox. I charged a batt for a couple hours and sat down to fool with it. I played around with some 24mg, getting some headrushes, and the next thing I know it's midnight and I hadn't fired up the first cigarette!! Normally, I'd have gone through nearly a pack in that time! Normally, the first thing I did in the morning was put my feet on the floor. Second thing was fire up a cig. The next morning, I lasted long enough to make it to the living room where I started vaping again. By bedtime, I hadn't smoked a single cigarette. It was just that easy. No cravings. No side effects. Nothing. A few weeks later, I got away from tobacco flavored juices as suddenly as I quit smoking and never looked back. I don't even LIKE the taste of tobacco anymore. I'm not sure I ever did.
It's incredible how easy it was to quit smoking with an e-cig. People say it feels like cheating and they're right. Don't even think about it. Just vape.
On other thing: Some people still have cravings, and I recommend snus as a temporary crutch. Before I started vaping, they helped me cut down about 30% on my cigarette consumption. There are threads here about how Snus supplies certain other chemicals besides nicotine that are thought to contribute to the addiction in some people. E-cigs and Snus seems to be a nearly 100% sure way to quit, even for the toughest smoking addict.
Good luck. If I can quit so easily, anyone can with minimal effort. Just vape and vape. The rest will take care of itself.
