The day my Volt setup arrived, I had put out an analog as I exited the car and went into the house and started vaping. That was 3 weeks ago and not one analog since. I was a 1 to 1.5 a pack smoker for 33 years.

You can do it, just go at your own pace and time.

My wife quit on News Years Day by using a Nicotral Inhaler. She started vaping earlier the same day I did. When I asked her what she thought of vaping compared to the inhaler, she told me it felt like she was cheating on quitting because vaping felt too much like smoking :)

It's been totally painless.

This.

Went from a pack and a halfish a day to having no need for a lighter instantly. Aside from the obvious nicotine addiction, one of the tougher hurdles for me to get over in quitting was the part where some part of me enjoyed smoking. Not the part that paid ten American dollars a day for cigarettes, or the part that had to stand in the rain or snow to smoke, or the part that needed to catch my breath after stairs, or the...sorry, you get the idea. Anyway, my sister mentioned trying to quit with e-cigs and it seemed like such an obvious answer I had to seriously wonder why I hadn't thought of it first.

I had my last cigarette the day the e-cigs arrived and I've managed to turn that seventy dollars a week into a quest for the ideal set-up...I think I'm pretty close and I didn't have to let go of the part of smoking that I did enjoy.

Here's to hoping that your experience is similar.

My friend had bronchitis - he quit cold turkey and started vaping. it was definitely an emergency for him to quit cold. but i think often times it could be best. your body will have a rough time for perhaps a week, but with the assistance of a decent ecig kit. it is much more manageable.

i am a recreational vaper, so my experience isn't really relative. just to note. :)

I personally think it would be easier to continue smoking analogs as the urge comes up. I was smoking about a half a pack a day, got my first e cig a week ago, and immediately was only craving analogs once or twice a day. I've been on the same pack since I bought the e cig. I crave them first thing in the morning (which I'm hoping will be taken care of by my white chocolate mocha flavored liquid!) and right after dinner, and I go ahead and smoke one at those times. I figure, at the very least I'm not smoking nearly as many. Even with those few analogs, I'm definitely experiencing the signs of quitting... Such as Quit Zits, coughing stuff up, and I can feel the little feelers on the back of my throat growing back! When I finish this pack I figure I'll be used to vaping enough that it'll be easier to quit than go out and buy another pack.
Really, though, that's just my opinion. You know yourself better than we do, and you probably know what will be easiest for you personally.

Though I may be new I skipped the formative stages a vaper struggles with, including the convenience store, or mall e-cig stage, I am not unknown to them. I did break down and buy a Pure Smoke One disposable e-cig only to blow the thing up a couple hours later and long before the advertised length of time it was supposed to last (2 packs LOLOLOLOL more like 40 hits before the battery died and I was sucking on that thing like mad trying to get a decent hit). I still have it with a completely un-used cartridge. I may pull it apart and see what I can salvage from it but that is for a another time. It cost me 7 bucks to find out that vaping could work for me. To that I say "big whoop". Lesson learned. I read you 5 by 5. As for the symptoms, I wish you the best of luck and pray that I too am not victim to this malaise.

By the way, don't worry about me, I'm going to quit the crap out of cigarettes like I'm mad at them.

In order to prevent the growing pains that you and many others have suffered I've hereby started a blog for newbies to catch up on the months of research I did in one easy blog. I called it "Finally An Easy Button To Quit Smoking And Start Vaping!". Check it out if you are new and confused.

Once I did my research I came to realize that once the physical addiction (nicotine withdrawal) was gone due to phasing my nic juice down to 0mg that I would only be faced with a mental one. What do I do with my hands? Can I live without any sort of smoke or vapor? That story is for another day. I started a blog to document my trials and tribulations and to direct newbies in the right direction so that they too can benefit from all my long months of sleepless nights doing painstaking research on this subject.

I realized quickly that decades long smokers were able to quit smoking analogs and that gave me great hope in my success. After doing the research on the safety of e-cigs (since the FDA etc enjoy casting so much doubt on a good thing) I realized that this was my only hope. I mean to see it through. I have made my choice and I will live or die by it as it were.

Thanks for your story, friend. VAPE STRONG! :vapor:

I took myself through all the "mind games" too lol. WHEN? HOW? Do I cut down? Should I finish my carton toss them or give them away blah blah blah...For me the bottom line was just FEAR...I was afraid to even hope I could ever break the chain of 33 years hopelessly killing myself! I tried EVERYTHING and had given up hope. This turned out to be seamless!! It just happened so naturally!! : ) I got my V4L Ultimate Kit and never looked back! PS I gave the analogs away...

That's exactly what I do.

Lol shirt vaping for the WIN!!! I thought I created that maneuver but I guess great minds think alike. When I told my woman that I was going to do that she got very upset and basically said not on her watch. I was like why not? Who knows what other people have done in this very seat. It baffles the mind! lololol

I smoked for 35 years, 2-3 PAD Winston habit for most of it. Toward the end, I was rolling my own from some very good bulk tobacco but taxes had boosted the price from $15 to $40 a pound. It ...... me off so much that I got a 510 kit just to cut down. I didn't really have much confidence that I'd quit entirely, and I wasn't sure I even wanted to. I had tried so many times before.

So on May 27, 2010 at 3 in the afternoon, I brought my first kit, a Joye 510 from Cignot in from the mailbox. I charged a batt for a couple hours and sat down to fool with it. I played around with some 24mg, getting some headrushes, and the next thing I know it's midnight and I hadn't fired up the first cigarette!! Normally, I'd have gone through nearly a pack in that time! Normally, the first thing I did in the morning was put my feet on the floor. Second thing was fire up a cig. The next morning, I lasted long enough to make it to the living room where I started vaping again. By bedtime, I hadn't smoked a single cigarette. It was just that easy. No cravings. No side effects. Nothing. A few weeks later, I got away from tobacco flavored juices as suddenly as I quit smoking and never looked back. I don't even LIKE the taste of tobacco anymore. I'm not sure I ever did.

It's incredible how easy it was to quit smoking with an e-cig. People say it feels like cheating and they're right. Don't even think about it. Just vape.

On other thing: Some people still have cravings, and I recommend snus as a temporary crutch. Before I started vaping, they helped me cut down about 30% on my cigarette consumption. There are threads here about how Snus supplies certain other chemicals besides nicotine that are thought to contribute to the addiction in some people. E-cigs and Snus seems to be a nearly 100% sure way to quit, even for the toughest smoking addict.

Good luck. If I can quit so easily, anyone can with minimal effort. Just vape and vape. The rest will take care of itself.

it was almost effortless for me. I got my 901 kit in, charged it, and started vaping... I will say, make sure you keep atleast 1 battery charged at all times, try to bring it with you whereever you go, and have plenty of backup supplies. That first day my batteries died while I was at school and I'd left my second at home on the charger... which resulted in a few analogs smoked. after that I kinda over-purchased to make sure it doesnt happen again. Now I keep and ego and extra battery with me. I've got a homemade passthrough in my truck and at home. I've got various liquids spread between the house and the truck. anytime you get the craving, just pull out your pv and start vaping. the only thing that still gets me is the smell of analogs. I cant' stand the taste, but the smell of one gives me a craving every now and then... But my homemade blueberry mint takes care of that instantly :2cool:
Good Luck!

Hi Shoga

I have now been 8 days without an analogue and it's been pretty great overall. I had been a smoker for 17 years before that. I bought a ego-t tornado kit with the b tank (straight not cone) and a 510 start up kit. I ordered from several suppliers but had a problem when I ran out of juice after only 48 hrs (I was at the time waiting for all my deliverys to give up entirely so was smoking the odd analogue) b#$%~# postman tried to deliver while I was out on Sat and I couldn't collect from depot until last Monday. I ended up smoking Sat and Sunday and during Saturday hating every puff (it tasted so disgusting).

What was wierd was how after such a short time smoking suddenly fest so gross, then after only 24 hours back on the weed it felt ok again. Anyway I rushed over to get my juice last Monday am and spent nearly all day vaping away happily on my RY4 and Vanilla 18 mg juice. I hit trouble on Tues when I got loads of cravings (I then discovered that there are other thins in tobacco that get you hooked other than nicotine). I did an emergency order online for 10 ml of 24 mg Tabacco flavoured juice and 10 ml (24mg) Virgina juice, 2 more batteries for my 510, another atomiser and a multi charger. My tank leaked and I broke the wick trying to fix it (hense the atty on the order). In desperation I replaced it with some of the wick from my zippo lighter - which didn't work. I think the cravings lasted a few days and I went through both 10ml bottles of juice in 3 days. I have also finished off my 30ml bottle of RY4 and half of the 30ml ottle of vanilla. Once my new stuff arrived everything settled down. A new Atty and several hours of research, followed by a few tweaks and a change in technique, and my tank now works beautifully.

Interestingly after a few days my taste improved and I found the RY4 and vanilla too sweet. I also had a really sore throat for about five days which is now nealy gone. On Saturday I completed some more research and put in a £200 order for everything I need to mix my own - hopefully enough juice to last me six months. I was really looking forward to recieving my new order today, but guess what. I had to pop out for 12 minutes (I work from home) and the postman came, so now I have to wait until morning to pick it all up - which cannot come soon enough as I am sick of vanilla!!!

I have really enjoyed vaping in the house (I always smoked outside) and have even been teaching myself to blow vape rings (never really occurred to me to have fun while I smoked before). My anxiety levels where a bit high for a few days, but I am now feeling pretty chilled, though looking at forums and doing research has become an obsession - I just love the pure gadget potential you get with vaping.......

Anyway that's my story. I hope it helps a little. With all your preparation I'm sure you will do significantly better than me.

Btw - can you post a link to your thread that contains your research as I couldn't find it anywhere and I would love to learn about your discoveries.

Good luck - even though you won't need it.
