I love those no-name generic 5-for-a-dollar disposable lighters that work once or twice, then produce the tinniest bit of nearly invisible flame if any flame at all.

those used to work for me for months at an end, i wonder if there is a magical barrier around US that degrades the quality of all imported products at the moment of passing :D

I LOATHE those cheapo lighters.

I would have a zippo or Bics or freaking matches.

This Provari talk reminds me of my motorcycle memories.
For years, metric owners have trashed Harley owners and their American made overpriced, overhyped bikes.

I bought a Harley and am checking out Provaris and will more than likely order one by weeks end.

Must be the rebel in me.

Oooooooooooooooh...........................you brought up the metric Harley issue?! Now you've escalated the thread lol.

Not to mention, there's probably more American parts on metrics than on Harley's now.....................:danger:

There are two reasons why the dna controllers don't have electrical RBP:

1) There's no way to do it without introducing some voltage drop and inefficiency, and the more power you're pushing through the device, the more significant this becomes.
2) It's much more difficult to properly monitor the battery through it.

Shouldnt cause more drop with higher voltages...unless you are using a cheap Schottkey diode method. If you use a simple MOSFET transistor on one leg of the battery, you can get just a few millivolts of drop, which doesnt change if you push more power through it. Check out SI4838DY... only 0.003ohms of resistance added to the supply! That would be a negligible 18 milli-volt max drop on a DNA30.

Agree though, most dont want the wasted efficiency. I dont think it changes how you monitor the battery though. It acts as a simple resistor in the circuit with a fixed, small drop that can be subtracted out of the total voltage measured.

What are the Titans regulated at? I love cig-a-likes. Just wish there was a really, really nice one out there.

Never mind, I Googled it.

Here is a nice set of data. It is the best I have tried. Something else might be out there or something might have come out recently but so far it is the closest to what I want as of yet.

An hour at over 4v, I would rather have 20 minutes at 4.5v. I would take 4.4v and be happy and not feel the need to upgrade.

The "rebel" in my BF got him to buy a new 2000 Triumph Bonneville/America, bored out the block, custom air box, chromed beyond bling, etc, etc, and it's been sitting for 7 years in the shed, in pieces, because he can't find parts and anyone who can fix the thing.*Major Fail*

Yeah, they're disposable. What's your point? Everything which uses a coil will need to have those coils replaced. Even your rebuildables will need to have their coils replaced at some point. Name me something that doesn't have something disposable in it. What was your point other than question everything that I post?

Oooh, uhm, don't hurt'em Bad! ... Ginsu anyone?

Maybe I'm missing something, but last I did anything with MOSFETs, they didn't like having their Drain-Source Voltage reversed at all; in fact they almost always have a protective diode in 'em that will shunt the current that would result from a reversed Drain-Source Voltage around the actual transistor. So how does that help? Note: Yes, I'm rusty at this stuff.

there's a story there somewhere,,,,,,,,

Yeah... we like beer. :) He just goes by Barley for short. His brother-in-fur, though, Mr. Aleister Growley, goes by Mr. Growley or Mr. G.

Somewhere on top of the world
I guess I just need to change my thinking when it comes to the DNA30.
When I think of regulated devices, I use those for out and about. I keep my mechs for home use where I can pay more attention to them. I'm going to go take a look at the Zen you mentioned, if it's designed for button top only batteries, I can definitely use that out and about without the worry. Thanks for the info!!
