I would try to stealth vape in class (considering my shortest class is 2 and a half hours long this semester), but all of my classes are either too full so that the person next to me will notice something is up, or too small so that I'll easily draw attention from the professor. But tomorrow I absolutely refuse to go down 8 flights of stairs to go vape. I'm just going to go into the art department bathroom during my break in design and vape, haha.
I miiiiiight be able to get away with it in biology because I have to sit in a weird corner for my laptop to be plugged in.
Who knows, I may try it, haha.
I stealth vape on the train and the bus commuting to and from work, in restaurants, the grocery store, wherever I'm at basically. I do it openly at my desk at work. I don't go to smoking areas to vape I just don't see why I should.
Agree with pdssoft! We probably have about 12 months before we start seeing VAPE in a circle w/red line through it. Many in this thread have said they vaped in common places, one stated airplane. Has anyone else tried in airports/planes? Been vaping for 60 days and this is the longest I have gone without an international business trip in 6 years. Will board plane next week for Brazil. Will most likely stealth it but was wondering:
1) Anyone been hassled by the TSA for juice? even if you are within 311 rule?
2) If stealth in plane restroom can vapor set off a smoke detector?
3) Anyone tried vaping in other countries? Netherlands has brought no smoking laws to a whole new level and Japan only allows pubic smoking in designated areas
4) Any hassles on return to the States when passing secondary security in foriegn airports? Some countries pretty much do a cavity search and toss your bags really good since that bonehead tried to light his undwear this past Christmass

I was going to post this anyway as a reply to this thread, so since you asked: I vaped both in the lavatory and (stealth) at my seat on a Delta flight. No, the PV did not set off the smoke detector, but as I was using a KR808D-1 and mostly PG in the cartomizer, I wasn't exactly a vapestack. When I asked the flight attendant if it was okay to vape in my seat, she replied that while she was unsure of Delta's official policy, she would prefer that I not vape, as it might upset other passengers. Addict that I am, I stealthed it and only took a few little puffs. I don't carry juice, nor would I carry something that looks like it might be dangerous. I think a big mod might cause serious concern to TSA, and I wouldn't blame them. A small stick and cartos seems to be the way to go.

Public vaping has probably educated and converted more people than radio ads or even this forum ever well. After all, you have to know about e-cigs before you look for a forum about them. The more people that are using e-cigs and know about the benefits of them, the harder it will be for the FDA to force any kind of ban on them. Think of prohibition, only this time with nicotine instead of alcohol.
With that said, I educated my banker the other day while I vaped away inside the bank. He was very interested in them since he knows a lot of smokers and has family that smokes, and I'm sure we'll talk more about them. I vape pretty much everywhere. Sometimes I stealth vape if I'm not in the mood to field questions, and other times I vape loud and proud. I have yet to experience anybody that has a problem with it.
Some people will choose to vape in silence, while others choose to perform an act that is not illegal and no more intrusive than the cologne or perfume of the person next them, and educate the public about the benefits of vaping. Anything in our exhaled vape will dissipate quickly, and if someone is getting a mouth full of my trace level carcinogens and nicotine, they need to get out of my personal space. Then they can complain that I'm vaping and I'll complain that were so close to me I think they were trying to molest me.

I tended to vape only in "smoking areas" at first, but then said what the heck and started vaping openly and other than requests for information on them from both employees and customers (which I answer in-depth) I have had no problems. When I was stopped by the bartender at a Denver sports bar from going outside to use my ecigarett (on a cold and windy day) I told her I didn't want any cops that came in to harrass me, she pointed at a guy in civilian clothing who was an off duty cop who told me the police department had put out a bulletin to all the policemen not to harass ecigarette vapers if they were seen vaping in a public area.
Although I am still hessitant to vape in a crowded cafe, I will if there is not that many patrons there.

I'm fairly open with vaping, and have never had a problem. But be careful while on airplanes. A number of airlines (including southwest) have specifically banned e-cigs on planes. Getting caught stealth vaping on the wrong flight could turn into a nasty issue in the current security climate. However, I've never had a problem with airport security.
Thats my problem man. Plus i'm a bit of a rebel anyway. I'm just so tired of the PC BS, I could just scream!
I'm right there with ya! I have a severe fragrance allergy which I myself find very irritating (I love the smell of good perfume, but my body does not.) I have very politely asked several people in the past to please tone down their fragrance use when they are around me, not because of the fragrance, but because of the allergy, to no avail. Yet, I am FORCED to care that they don't like the smell of smoke? I do generally try to be very considerate of other people, but when it comes to people like that, I delight in the idea that I can vape and blow it in their faces if I so choose and they can't do or say anything more than I was able to do or say about their perfume or cologne!
Being new to vaping I am eager to educate current analogue smokers. As such I think I prefer to actually go to designated smoking areas and vape. The first college I went to had designated smoking areas, however the current school I attend is smoke pretty much wherever you like. They do ask that people avoid doors, windows, etc. when smoking.
From an educational standpoint, I think more good can be done by actually seeking out the smokers and trying to educate them. I realize that vaping is new to me and that novelty will most likely wear off, quickly.
From a courtesy standpoint, I think it is better to ask permission than to ask for forgiveness. So i am leaning toward asking before I vape in most places. The movies is an interesting one though. I see it as being kind of the same issues as cell phones as far as movies go. I don't want to diminish anyone's enjoyment of the movie, but I will (definitely) want my fix a couple times during a movie.
There is another very devious part of me that says that anyplace that actually sells analogues is fair game and no excuses should be made. I agree about the part about totally out of excuses for rabid anti smoking lunatics. If the goal is to makes yourself feel better than adopting a "screw you I can do what want" attitude is effective (?), however if the goal is to educate and promote then sometime (most of the time) dealing with ignorance is going to come with the territory. I think the bigger question for every vaper to ask themselves is "Do I wanna take the hard line approach or the path of least resistance?"

My friend vapes at work and there is no policy other than "no smoking" anywhere but outside at designated entrances (in the back of the bldg). No one in his cubical farm has complained. Recently he was next to the CEO and SVP of HR who were heading outside for a cigarette. He educated them about it, demonstrated indoors, and niether one said they had any issue with it and both seemed interested in trying one some time.
I demonstrated my PV in my doctor's examining room, gave him some web page articles I printed, including some lab tests. He was impressed and said he would check it out. Two weeks later he had Ecig pamphlets urging smokers to try electronic cigarettes. Last time I was in for a checkup he asked me if I was still using the Ecig. He agrees that those who don't want to kick it cold turkey need to substitute vaping for their nicotine intake.

People in smoking areas are amazed how much vapor an Ego produces. They always have questions and just about every time there's a nonsmoker around who is going to tell their friend about Ecigs.

Don't believe everything you read kiddies. It's not that they're really legal, it simply that they're not illegal... yet.
It only takes one person to complain... and we'll all be stealth vaping on black market, pesticide-grade nicotine.
I realize everyone is trying to shed that "Second Class Citizen" persona that came with smoking cigarettes, but perhaps our efforts could be better spent educating the masses rather than defying them.

Agreed 100%. We all know how misinformed and alarmist the masses can be. Although I think it would be cool to be able to vape in the line while waiting to pay a speeding ticket, I'll wait for the day when it's generally accepted.
Education is the key to tolerance.
I think I would be scared to do it out in a "no smoking" area. I'm the kind of person who would ask permission first. or do it in the bathroom stealth wise. Im a chicken
