The Vamo has arrived and in a bit of luck, the bigger batteries and charger were also in the mail.
1) It's smaller, slimmer and heavier than I thought it would be.
2) It doesn't balance as well on its end as the ProThingy on my rickety table. Even without a
tank on it, it's top heavy. I predict a lot of falling over.
3) Which is unfortunate, because the finish, while pretty, doesn't look durable. If I wrap it and rewrap it like
Blemini Cricket and
Bounce, it's going to strip it.
4) The regular chrome would look better with the Protank.
5) I can see why they "set it and forget it." I'm going to have to cut my nails to be able to push the little buttons separately.
6) I forgot about the rattlesnake sound. I'm going to pretend it's purring.
7) The firing button feels kind of cheap, like it might break easily.
8) Nice screen, but I wish the v, w and Ω were larger.
9) I prefer the one button design. I can check the resistance and change the voltage on the ProThingy with one hand while driving on the freeway. (And don't say I wouldn't have had to change the setting on a Vamo, because at that moment I wanted my juice hotter and would have had to change something - power or voltage.)
10) It's nice that is has eGo threading, but a Stardust looks better on the Twist.
Okay, the ProThingy has a 2.6Ω Protank on it and is set at 4v. The Vamo has a 2.6Ω Protank on it (but I guess I'm not supposed to know that) set at 6w. Juice is being vaporized. There is lots of vapor. Why can't we all live happily together?
Overall, I like the ProThingy better for how it feels in my hand - balanced and substantial - I like the one button menu, it's made in the US, I can send it to ProVape if it breaks and I could sell it in the classys for a good price if I wanted to.
However, if a person wanted a mod and the ProThingy was out of their price range I would recommend a Vamo -
but I was already doing that! Only now I will highly suggest they get a wrap. There is a sort cheap feel to the Vamo compared to the ProThingy, but if a person has never held a ProThingy they won't know that.
BUT - I will still recommend new vapers get a Twist or Spinner kit.
My Vapor Store:
two VV batteries: Joyetech Twist/Vision Spinner - one of each or two of the same; different mAh choices for the same price.
two clearos: there is a number of chioces, including the EVOD
USB charger/wall adaptor
$69.95 (if you buy something else, like a Protank and get the price over $75. shipping is free)
Vamo
(I suppose I could have bought directly from China, the deal FastTech has right now is really good, but I didn't. This deal also wasn't available two weeks ago, so the point is rather moot.)
Vamo body shipped: $37.65
Nitecore i2 charger
two AW IMR 18650 batteries (I already have 18350s)
little plastic battery case (my other one is too small for 18650s)
(Priority Mail) that's all RTD offers and I didn't feel like shopping around, so the price got kicked up $6.
$47.88
So far the Vamo is up to $85.53 with nothing to put on it, no juice and no back up device if there is a problem. A ProThingy would be over $200.00 at this point. I know I'm preaching the the choir here, but neither of these devices are appropriate for a new vaper with $100.00 to spend, who has only tried a gas station cig-a-like.
I am currently vaping in rotation a 1000mAh Twist with a Stardust on it, A ProThingy with a Protank and a Vamo with a carto tank. They are all performing beautifully. The Twist gets extra points because it can rest in the crook of my knee and not fall between the cushions; Blemini gets extra points for balance and being dressed like a pirate; and the Vamo gets extra points for purring.
Approximately next week, the Bobo arrives.
