Oh, man, the junk food kitties made me loose my multi-quotes, but you and The Fixer are going to have a ball at that Mumford & Sons show in New Orleans, Lynn! Of course, you posted that you're going to that city two posts after I whined again about being desperate to finally visit it, but I'm not too jealous to be mondo excited for you. I don't really know them that much, but I've heard a bajillion times that their live act is especially electric. Seems that even folks who aren't big-time fans of that band are completely bowled over by the live show:2cool:! Congrats on your nectar win, hottie! Report back on that macchiato, as I'm on the look-out for a good version of that particular flavor for Aunt Rose. And, speaking of coffee nectar (that still seems too redundant to say), good luck on perfecting the one you're working on, Shadav - I bet our DIY wunderkinds can help you fix it up. Just saw Helen Hunt at Ralphs...wow, time and again, they all really do have GIGANTIC heads in person:blink:!

Silica sleeving!!!

I'm using XS-116 on some SS mesh wicks, if they're tight enough to work. The XS-18 is kinda big, but it works well in a AGA-T where there's plenty of room. Ekowool is hollow and the 2mm works about the same as XS-18, but it frays a little easier. Ekowool is cheaper, especially in bulk. I may order some Ekowool from England if the co-ops keep falling apart, it's under $2 a foot from vape-atomizer-mesh.com including shipping. Ekowool is probably too big for Vivi heads, and it's not the right shape anyways. It is fantastic for RDAs. Since it's already hollow, sticking a paperclip down the center to hold it while wrapping a coil is super easy. A few weeks ago I noticed a guy on Ebay was selling it with organic cotton wick in the center, but then ........ pimped it so I'd be surprised if there's any left.

As far as wrapping a perfectly round coil goes, that's not at all necessary. As long as the shape is consistent, the wraps are evenly spaced, and has no angles it should be fine. What type of glasses or magnifier you need to see what you're doing is a matter of personal taste and up to you. You have no idea how hard it is to see 1mm crimp beads until you try. I don't suggest it.

Oh yea, congrats hottie!

I won 240ml of "hooch" (e-liquid) from S&S mods over 2 weeks ago. I even placed a small order at the same time, to see what else they have and sweeten the giveaway for them just a bit. Still no tracking number. I was going to give at least 180ml of it away even if I like it, but at this rate I don't know what's going on. There should be rules about this kind of thing.:glare:

i'm going to have to look up this "silica sleeving" stuff....i can barely imagine a 1mm crimp bead! hair extension beads are usually 3.5mm and they are pretty small LOL
I might have to get the magnifying glasses with LED on fasttech LMAO (partially kidding...)

lynnie not just meestracks...meesetracks *macchiatto* :D
i was going to try the original but then fanceedan said that a lot of ppl prefer the macchiatto and find the orginal's hazelnut to be overwhelming....
i practically hold my breath when walking by the candle section at any store because the hazelnut is so strong and nasty (granted they are usually cheap candles but still LOL)

i have heard about a lot of ppl "winning" and not receiving their winnings....i don't know what kind of rules should be in place but it is kind of shady for ppl to see others winning and think "wow that show/hosts and vendor are so cool!"...when they might not be.

As a NOLA native happily transplanted to Florida, I think you have hit upon the city's Official Motto...or at least it SHOULD be!

Missed ya!

Becks...EVERYONE should go to PARIS at least once in their lives! It is awesomely beautiful. It reminds me of a big park. A big, EXPENSIVE, wonderful park. I loved it. I want to go back, but at the rate I am saving money, it will probably take a decade or so...unless I meet a Sugar Grandpa.

Yes, dear Blue girl, you do make me THINK. Just not about vaping stuff, which is okay by me! I feel so vaping disabled when I read how everyone is coiling and wrapping and kanthal wired and stuff. I am still loving my throw away Kanger coils and my lovely Itaste VVVW. I put all of my working Egos in a coffee mug and I will keep using them until they die.

BTW, the Iclear 16s are REALLY good. Very surprising to find a decent clearo.

Yes, this thread went off the rails.

Shadav: I probably would just dump it and start over. I only mix 3 ml at a time when I am trying something new. That way when I screw up (a lot ) I don't feel guilty pouring it out in the sink. DIY Nectar is fun, but often frustrating!

i have some that i think i need to dump....i think the mix gunks up the coil and makes it taste like ........i don't want to dump it because it tastes good at first...maybe it will be ok with an RDA? LOL

oh yeah...i was watching the Real Housewives of OC Reuion show (i know..i know) and they kept saying over and over and over again "own it!" LMAO

chelle the wrapping really isn't difficult...just a little tedious...which apparently gets less so with practice...have you seen pbusardo rewrap a vivi coil in like 3 seconds?

at like 17:00

Fab I considered doing it that way but unless you are using a silk pin the point of the needle is by definition breaking fibers inside the wick. I prefer not to do that on my long wick clearos since fraying/breaking wick is frequently what sends me recoiling to begin with.

FOr non sewers: Silk when punctured by a pin leaves permanent holes. So you want the pins/needles to move the fibers aside as much as possible rather than cut them and be as slim as possible to minimize hole size. Hence pins specifically designed for use in silk. :)

You don't actually push the pin through the fibers, just gently between the bundles and up the middle:

It makes for a round coil and an easy wrap.

The nature of a needle point is to cut. It is by definition cutting fibers in there. Use a silk pin it is shaped to push the fibers to the sides. A needle is not.

Will a blunt needle work? I have needles that don't have that sharp tip.

You can try it. It might work. It is also possible it will break things worse because of the difficulty pushing it in there.

Honestly I just hold my paperclip next to the silica and my coils are plenty round enough :)

There's no pushing! You just have to weave it in and out of the bundles. I use a blunted needle in any case.

I think the silk needles must have a rounded point - here was me thinking they must be extra sharp or something. :)
